Interested in joining the Opportunity Black Isle board?
We're looking for people who live or work on the Black Isle to join the Opportunity Black Isle Board as volunteers.
If you care about the Black Isle, this is a great opportunity to make a difference and build a better Black Isle for the future. Could you be fill one of the five places?
As a member of the Board, you'll advocate and champion the Black Isle Local Place Plan to public, private and third sector organisations. That means you'll need one or more of the following attributes:
Passion - knowledge and understanding of the local community and a desire to make the Black Isle a better place, as outlined in the Local Place Plan.
Research - what are the plans of the various partners organisations? What papers are available or due to come up? Are there timeframes that the Board needs to be aware of when determining who, how and when they will lobby an organisation?
Understanding - what is really being communicated by different public and private sector organisations that affects the Black Isle? Who needs to be influenced in those organisations and how?
Evaluation - how will the plans and actions of organisations impact on the aspirations in the Local Place Plan.
In addition to regular Board meetings (which are likely to be no more than monthly), you should be prepared to devote one day per month on average to Board business.
Board members will be appointed for an initial term of 3 years and can seek nomination for a 2-year extension.
The role is voluntary.
