CHEM 111: chemistry i (science majors), laboratory

This is the first half of a two-semester course sequence designed to lay a firm foundation for more advanced chemistry and other science courses. The overall objective of CHEM 111 is to introduce you to the equipment and methods used in chemistry laboratories and develop the skills necessary for handling chemicals safely and correctly. In addition, you will gain insight into using the scientific method in the chemistry laboratory. As the semester proceeds, you should increase your competence in using essential laboratory equipment, data analysis, and overall confidence in designing and performing laboratory procedures.

• Concurrent enrollment or an ABC grade in CHEM 105 is required to proceed with CHEM 111.

• CHEM 111 can be substituted for CHEM 113.

  • In other words, Chemistry majors can take CHEM 111 for CHEM 113 credits.
