Dr. Alivio received a Large Classroom Transformation Grant from The POGIL Project! He also participated in the 3-Day Summer POGIL Workshop at Washington University in St. Louis (MO)! We are excited to implement POGIL in CHEM 105 and CHEM 106 at Nicholls!

Dr. Alivio thanks Dr. Rudy Baum’s friends and family for giving us the highest honor of hosting a symposium celebrating his life and work and inviting them to the following luncheon. The late Dr. Baum remains an inspiration to young chemists!
Claire, Connor, and ARG friend Seth Pellegrin presented their research IN PERSON at ACS Spring 2023! Seth Bergeron from Dr. Darcey Wayment's group joins them. Nicholls ACS President Claire gave a second poster presentation about the Chapter. They met a new network of collaborators, and one of them is Nicholls Chemistry alumna Dr. Rebecca Dupre of the US Department of Agriculture!
Dr. Alivio will travel to ACS Spring 2023 as program co-chair of the Division of Chemical Education. His fellow co-chairs are Dr. Ryan Sweeder of Michigan State University and Dr. Patrick Daubenmire of Loyola University Chicago

Claire presented IN PERSON at the American Chemical Society's 2022 Southwest Regional Meeting this November! She SLAYED IT! The conference, hosted by the ACS Baton Rouge Local Section, was held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana!
Dr. Alivio attended and presented at the 2022 ACS Biennial Conference on Chemical Education at Purdue University! He learned a lot from the chemistry education research community!
Dr. Alivio published a co-authored article in the Journal of Chemical Education! The manuscript is about a physical chemistry laboratory experiment Dr. Alivio helped develop as a graduate instructional/teaching assistant at Texas A&M University! The article has been featured on the cover of the ninety-ninth volume (issue 7) of the Journal of Chemical Equation!
ARG welcomes Connor Lopez to the group! Connor will work on a materials science project involving the synthesis of precious bimetallic alloy nanoparticles!
Claire excellently presented virtually at the 96th Annual Meeting of the Louisiana Academy of Sciences! This local conference was hosted by Louisiana State University at Alexandria!

Dr. Alivio was elected the new President of the Nicholls State Chapter of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi! He was inducted into the chapter during the same Outstanding First Year Award Claire attended.

Claire has been funded by the Nicholls Student Government Association (SGA) to travel and present our research at the 262nd American Chemical Society National Meeting & Exposition (ACS Fall 2021) from August 22nd to 26th, 2021, in Atlanta, GA.
