DANCE

Ballet Folklórico Mexicano de Yale

Presenters

Yale student dancers

Join us in an interactive session! Dancers from Ballet Folklórico Mexicano de Yale will introduce and teach everyone how to do a grito (a type of celebratory yell done by the dancers as a way to express enjoyment). Additionally, the dancers will teach the audience 2 fun steps (i.e. Café con Pan and Sopa de Pato). To end the interactive component, the dancers will ask participants to join the dancers on stage for a freestyle dance. The session will conclude with dance performances from the region of Jalisco, Mexico. Jaír will perform "El Gusto", a popular, fast-paced Mariachi song that is a staple of the region. Carmen, Marcos, Karla, and Levi will end with "Jarabe Tapatío", the national dance of Mexico.
