Join one of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra's amazing musicians, Remy Taghavi, as he plays his bassoon and tells the story of Steven Kellogg's book, "Ralph's Secret Weapon." Ralph visits his Aunt Georgianna for summer vacation and gets the adventure of a lifetime! Besides having fun with the book, you'll learn about a bassoon, how to conduct, and be able to ask Remy questions about what it's like to be a musician!

A magic show unlike any other! Lucky Duck wants to be a Magician when he grows up, and is eagerly awaiting a Magic Show from Mini Bunny the Magician - but wait! Mini Bunny is nowhere to be seen. Lucky Duck and the kids must put on their detective hats, and find him! Along the way they'll learn some magic tricks themselves, and learn about the magic in nature, art, and building, within each and every one of us.

Emoji Your Emotions

Students will create a set of their own 'emojis' to reflect how they are feeling that day (Ie. Happy, sad, angry, bored, sleepy, etc.). These will be used to create a 'daily emote chart' to help them to track their mood each day. Tracking your mood can help you understand yourself better. This can help with pattern recognition, self-awareness and self-regulation in folks younger and older alike!
NOTE - Pencil and paper needed; coloring tools like crayons, markers, or colored pencils are optional but encouraged!

Based on a traditional Chinese tale and featured at this year's Lunar Fest in New Haven, this mini puppet show features shadow puppets built using traditional methods and is in English and Mandarin languages. The show will be followed by a workshop on making shadow puppets, movement, light, color and shadow puppet screens.
