Join me for a live read aloud with follow-along images of the book "The Sandwich Swap" about a friendship that one day just goes wrong, but eventually leads to friends each finding the courage to try new things and rebuild their friendship - written by Queen Rania of Jordan Al Abdullah and Kelly DiPucchio and illustrated by Tricia Tusa.

Making Faces

Making Faces is a playful lesson including a story, songs, dancing/movement, and a hands-on creation (materials could include playdough or paper and crayons/markers/colored pencils) that will help young learners name, recognize, and talk about emotions they feel and observe around them. They will also walk away with a few strategies for coping with strong emotions.

HEALTH & NUTRITION

Wellness Jeopardy

Presenters:

This activity includes a 30 minute presentation and 20 minutes of an exciting jeopardy game for older kids. During this activity, kids will learn the nutrients of each food group as well as the portion size and benefits of eating healthy foods, exercising, and drinking water.

Join me for a live read aloud with follow-along images of the book "Woolbur," about a free-spirited, fluffy, one-of-a-kind sheep - written by Leslie Helakoski and illustrated by Lee Harper.

DANCE


Ballet Folklórico Mexicano de Yale 

Presenters:

Yale student dancers

Join us in an interactive session! Dancers from Ballet Folklórico Mexicano de Yale will introduce and teach everyone how to do a grito (a type of celebratory yell done by the dancers as a way to express enjoyment). Additionally, the dancers will teach the audience 2 fun steps (i.e. Café con Pan and Sopa de Pato). To end the interactive component, the dancers will ask participants to join the dancers on stage for a freestyle dance. The session will conclude with dance performances from the region of Jalisco, Mexico. Jaír will perform "El Gusto", a popular, fast-paced Mariachi song that is a staple of the region. Carmen, Marcos, Karla, and Levi will end with "Jarabe Tapatío", the national dance of Mexico.
