Grief, Loss, and Healing through Arts
Presenter:
Astrid Chapman
Opening discussion will center around the experiences and types of grief and loss. Main Activity - Social Support Universe. Youth will be asked to participate in an arts activity and create their personal universe (Yes…drawing planets, stars, and asteroids!). The activity will facilitate self-reflection as youth develop inner awareness and process personal experiences with grief and loss. The group will explore challenging emotions, discuss life transitions, and reflect on experiences with isolation and withdrawal. Discussion and art prompts will encourage youth to connect with social supports and incorporate healthy and healing coping skills into their daily routines. Grief is universal and ever-changing, and no one is alone while they navigate this universe!
