Vision Statement:
The students at our school are filled with potential, and will leave our school on the path towards being ready for all high school educational options and career learning opportunities that will be available to them. They will be capable of thinking critically and overcoming the many obstacles and challenges that their futures may hold. Students will be provided opportunities for personal growth, self-empowerment, and leadership that they can take into the world with them. Our students will learn what it means to be life-long learners, productive citizens, and have all the tools needed to make a difference within our community as well as in any communities they may be a member of in their future.
Mission Statement:
The mission of the school counseling program is to implement a comprehensive school counseling program which will provide every student a fair and challenging academic environment in their journey towards reaching their full potential. The school counseling program will promote their academic, career, social, and emotional growth. The school counseling program will work in collaboration with administrators, teachers, students, parents, and the community to provide students with the necessary tools to take advantage of opportunities in their lives and continue their lifelong acquisition of knowledge and experiences.
Belief Statement:
It is our belief that all students are capable of being successful in their academics, as well as any potential careers they may choose to pursue. It is also our belief that all students will leave their 6-8 schooling experience prepared for the various high school educational pathways available in New Hanover County.
The needs of students are met by ensuring that a comprehensive school counseling program is in place. Doing so will create bridges between the school, the home, and the community to ensure their needs are met in all aspects of students’ lives.
In order to be the best resource for students, the school counselors will advocate for the needs of all students academically, socially, and emotionally. The school counselors will provide equal opportunity for all students, promote personal growth, and empower all students.
The school counselors are responsible for delivering a comprehensive school counseling program to all students.
The school counselor will constantly evaluate the program and ensure that it is meeting the needs of the student population. Data will be used to guide decisions and further develop the school counseling program.
The school counselor will use the ASCA Ethical Standards to ensure all students’ needs are met in a fair and equal way.
