It is recommended to look up to two months ahead to give yourself time. Updates occur regularly throughout the year, so please pay attention to the date listed but follow up with review at the website.

AUG 31 Sallie Mae "No Essay" Scholarship: $2,000 x12 - only open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and any US Territory age 17 or older at the time of entry, and who meet one (1) of the four (4) following eligibility requirements at the time of entry:
A parent who currently has a child enrolled in an accredited college or university located within the United States;
A student who is currently enrolled in an accredited college or university located within the United States;
A parent who currently has a child enrolled as a high school senior located within the United States;
A student who is currently enrolled as a high school junior or senior who intends to enroll in an accredited college or university located with the United States, within a year of graduating high school.

SEPT 15 Varsity Tutor Scholarship : monthly essay contest $200
SEPT 15 Gates Scholarship: a highly selective, last-dollar scholarship for outstanding, minority, high school seniors from low-income households. Each year, the scholarship is awarded to exceptional student leaders, with the intent of helping them realize their maximum potential.
SEPT 30 QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship : "Are you a low-income high school senior who has excelled academically, but feels that the nation’s best colleges are financially out of reach? The QuestBridge National College Match can be your pathway to a top college. Through this college and scholarship application process, you can apply for free to the nation’s best colleges and be considered for early admission and a full four-year scholarship."
SEPT 30: Don’t Text and Drive Scholarship: $1,000 Applicant must complete a short form and share a 140-character statement explaining why they will not text and drive.
SEPT 30: Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs: $1500 scholarships for trade school, community college or university leading to a career in manufacturing.
SEPT 30: Big Future Scholarship: $40,000 The Scholarship Program is open to seniors in high school who meet the eligibility requirements. If you are an eligible student, by completing a college planning step using your College Board account, you will automatically earn a chance to win a $500 scholarship and an additional chance to win a $40,000 scholarship.
SEPT 30 Coca Cola Scholarship: 150 Coca-Cola Scholars are selected each year to receive this $20,000 scholarship. An achievement-based scholarship awarded to students in their final year of high school. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities.

OCT 15, NOV 15 Thomas Wolfe Scholarship-UNC Chapel Hill: (early application deadline, scholarship deadline) Full tuition for a student(s) with literary potential, must complete early admissions application by 10/15 and the scholarship application by 11/15
OCT 15 East Carolina Honor's College Scholarships: Must complete ECU application by October 15th. ECU Honors College application deadline is December 2.
OCT 28 Chick-fil-A Community Scholars $25,000 scholarship for students who have shown demonstrated care through community-service in the twelve (12) months prior to application.
OCT 30 (9-12) NCWIT Award For Aspirations in Computing $500 Scholarship honoring 9th-12th grade students for their computing-related achievements and interests, and encourages them to pursue their passions.
OCT 31 (9-12) VFW Youth Scholarship: grades 9-12 are eligible. Prize can be for university/college or vocational school. 1st place is $35,000. The 2025-26 theme is: “How Are You Showing Patriotism and Support for Our Country?
OCT 31 Big Future Scholarship: Complete a college planning step using your College Board account, you will automatically earn a chance to win a $500 scholarship and an additional chance to win a $40,000 scholarship.

NOV 1, NOV 15, NOV 30 Belk Scholarship at Davidson College: (nomination deadline, application deadline, document deadline) For nomination, submit a resume and a brief written statement (typed) to the Scholarship Google Classroom at your high school stating how you fit the tenets of The Belk Scholar. (2 student nominees per school: Ashley/Hoggard Scholarship GC; Laney/NHHS Scholarship Google Classroom).

NOV 1 Park Scholarship-NCSU: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, & Character; self nominations only (discontinued school nomination process and Test Optional) Full tuition, BOTH NCSU admissions application AND Park Scholarship application must be completed by Nov. 1
NOV 1 North Carolina A&T State University National Alumni Scholarship : Priority deadline. Must complete admissions application by priority deadline of 11/1. These applications will be reviewed for scholarship consideration. 2026-27 National Alumni Scholarship Application will be open Nov 1-Jan 10.
NOV 1 Centennial Scholarships-NC State: Wilson College of Textiles within NCSU or (if not textile major) need endorsement between Oct. 1 - Nov. 10. Any student who applies for admission by the Early Action deadline, Nov. 1, and has selected a textiles baccalaureate undergraduate degree program for their first major choice will be endorsed and receive access to the scholarship application. Students who are interested in applying for the Textiles Scholarship Program and have applied for a different degree program outside of the Wilson College of Textiles, must be endorsed. A teacher or counselor can endorse student(s) or students can endorse themselves. All endorsements must be submitted between Oct. 1 – Nov. 10. There is only one application for all scholarships for incoming first-year students. By being endorsed, students are eligible to apply for the Centennial, Textile Pioneer, NCTF Distinguished Merit and Prestige Scholarship.
NOV 1 Goodnight Scholarship-NCSU - students must complete the application for the 11/1 early deadline in order to be considered and then invited to apply in Mid-December
NOV 2 Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards $10,000 Scholarship honoring Latinx high school seniors who excel in the classroom and community and for their excellence in various categories including: Community Service, Education, Engineering, Entrepreneurship & Business, Green Sustainability, Healthcare & Science, Media & Entertainment, Public Service & Social Justice and Technology.

NOV 15 - Odenza Marketing Group Scholarship - 2.5 GPA requirement Essay contest for future business/marketing students; Essay topic "Choose a city located anywhere in the world that you believe would, from a future employment prospective, benefit your career. Explain in under 500 words how spending time in this city would help you become more marketable to a potential employer(s). Clearly identify how it will benefit you. For example, going to Paris may help you if you are interested in Fashion Design. Note that this should not just be stated. You must provide an argument supporting this statement."

NOV 1, NOV 15 Cheatham-White Scholarship at NCCU & NC A&T- (nomination due by 11/1; app materials due 11/15) The Cheatham-White Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship program for students attending North Carolina Central University and N. C. Agricultural and Technical State University. This program was designed to provide an outstanding educational experience for exceptional scholars who have a wide range of interests, are proficient in both the arts and sciences, and demonstrate leadership potential and a strong commitment to service.

NOV 27 John Lennon Endowed Scholarship- students attending a UNCF member institution and majoring in communications, mass communications, mass media arts, music or performing arts.
NOV 30 Alan and Jane Handler Scholarship (nomination due but the application is due 12/1/24 so plan AHEAD) the University of Rochester’s premier scholarship. Qualified candidates are academically high-achieving students with substantial levels of financial need (as demonstrated on their FAFSA and CSS Profile forms) and who have overcome significant obstacles in their lives. Recipients selected on the basis of academic excellence, outstanding potential to be future leaders, and demonstrated mastery of complex challenges. UNCF Scholarship Opportunities - multiple scholarship options with varying due dates
DEC 1 2025 BBB Torch Scholarships- Recognize students who personify high ethical standards as demonstrated through leadership, community service, overall personal integrity, and academic history. BBB Torch Scholarships are given to college-bound high school juniors, seniors, and college undergraduates.
DEC 1 BBB Spark Jr Award-Recognizes current high school students who display entrepreneurship. Either a business operated by a student or a business model developed by a student for future execution will qualify. Applicants must reside or attend school within BBB of Eastern Carolinas' 48-county service area. The winner receives a $500 cash prize! You can apply for our Spark Jr award here.

Entrants for this award will also need to submit 1,000 - 2,000 handwritten words explaining how they or the person they’re nominating make a difference in the world around them and why they deserve to be recognized for these efforts

Have a deep curiosity in studying the universe for its own sake, whether that be pursuing studies in physics, philosophy, biology, mathematics, literature, or any other field that seeks better understanding of our existence.

1/15/25 Washington Crossing Foundation Scholarship - $5,000 (31 awards) - For seniors planning to have careers in government service.
1/17/25-Profile in Courage Essay Contest-Applicant must submit an essay on a given topic related to an act of political courage.

1/26/25-SECU “People Helping People” Scholarship-SECU Foundation established the People Helping People four-year scholarship program to help North Carolina public high school students attend college. SECU Foundation takes an active role in assisting communities across North Carolina and truly believes in “People Helping People!” Although the SECU Foundation Scholarship program wishes to recognize academic achievement, the People Helping People Scholarship has a much broader purpose; recognizing leadership, integrity and community involvement. 1/31/25-New Beginnings Esthetics Scholarship: $5,000-Scholarship is open to students who are newly accepted or currently enrolled in an esthetics program at a Dermalogica partner school, and identify as Black, Indigenous, or persons of color.
