Note: Some students may test on a date that is different from what is listed above. These students will be notified prior to the exam concerning their testing date and location
Rosters showing room locations will be posted TBA
On TBA the school will begin in the day with an extended 4th block. Students will be released to all other classes once testing has ended for the day.
Makeup date will be TBA
Basic Test Information
The ACT is a state-required exam provided to ALL students who are enrolled in grade 11 for the first time according to Infinite Campus during the 2025-2026 school year
Format: Online
Location: New Hanover High School
Time: Testing starts at 8:30 am
Test Timing: Approximately 4-5 hours
Students are required to bring their school-issued laptop and charger for testing. These should be fully charged.
All electronics including earphones/earbuds and smartwatches will be collected during the testing session. This is a requirement.
All juniors will remain at school and in their testing location for the entire duration of the testing period. No students will be dismissed until testing has ended.
Why is the ACT Exam Important?
Help with admittance to college
Can increase your chances of earning scholarships
Can allow students to be exempted from taking CCRG classes in 12th grade
English - score of 18 or higher
Reading - score of 22 or higher
Math - score of 22 or higher
The ACT is a state-required exam. Student performance and the percentage of students tested (95% or above) count toward the school's accountability model and rating
My ACT
Students must create a My ACT account within two days of taking the exam
Students will be given time to work on this after the exam in their testing room

Dos & Don'ts
DO: Eat a good breakfast & arrive on time to your testing room
DON'T: Cell phones, smartwatches, and electronic devices are prohibited
