Your current teacher’s course recommendations have been highlighted on your Course Request Form.
Complete your Course Requests Form by March 15th, 2024!

OPEN CHOICE APPLICATIONS
Students who would like to attend a traditional high school (Ashley, Laney, Hoggard, & New Hanover) that is not assigned to them must complete the Open Choice Application and be approved. Open Choice Applications may be completed between March 4th - April 12th. If approved you will be required to provide your own transportation to and from school. The parent must log into their their preexisting scribbles account and select Open Choice Application.

How Do I Apply?
Step #1- Research Specialty Programs to determine what is a good fit for your learning style and future goals.
Talk as a family. This is big decision and commitment.
Talk to current and past students of the Wilmington Early College, Isaac Bear Early College, SeaTECH, Mosley, Laney STEM, NHHS Lyceum, Hoggard IB, and/or Ashley Marine Science.
Talk to the school counselor.
Visit the Specialty Program websites
Step #2- Attend Mrs. Witkowski's Virtual Parent Information Session- November 2nd @ 6:30pm

Step #3-Attend the Parent High School Informational Session in November & December-
Step #4- Complete the online student application- in January-deadline coming soon.
if you do not have internet access at home please see your school counselor for assistance.
Step #5- Notify your counselor of your submitted application.
Step #6- Have a conversation with your teacher so he/she will have a better idea of your intentions and how being accepted to a Specialty Program will benefit your future so they can prepare Teacher Recommendations Requests.
Step #7- Your school counselor will complete all remaining requirements of the checklist for submission.
Step #8- Acceptance, Wait List, and Denial Notifications arrive in February or March dates coming soon.
Step #9- Accepted Applicants need to respond to offer by February or March dates coming soon.
