Student Fees For Summer Semester Are Due on May 19th & on August 12th for Fall Semester
Getting Started With The Registration Process:
It is important to begin with the end in mind when planning and registering for your classes. Think about what your plans are after you graduate from your high school. If you are curious what classes you should take, do some career research through CFNC.ORG or other websites available. Find out what educational background you are going to need to achieve your goals and select a potential college major and college/university to attend. You will find that Baccalaureate Degree Plans (BDPs) are very helpful to look at in determining what classes you will need for your intended major of study. Here is a link to look up BDPs for the colleges/universities in North Carolina https://cfcc.edu/advising/university-transfer-guide/. Simply click on the college/university you are interested in attending and then select the major and it will pull up a list of suggested classes that you can take at CFCC that are needed to satisfy your general education requirements for that major.
Please watch this video to refamiliarize yourself with the registration process: How to Register for Classes. First, select the classes that you wish to take by viewing the classes available to you via Student Planning-Self Service. Once you select a class, you can then filter your results to choose a section, location, and instructor. Registering for classes is a lot like online shopping. You are going to add the items that you want to your cart (aka student plan) and to complete the registration process, you must check out (aka register for your classes) before you are guaranteed a seat in the class. If you only plan your classes, then you did just that and never registered for them. I can't stress this enough! Every semester I have students who think they registered for their classes only to find out the first day classes begin that they only planned them and never registered (checked out) for the classes. When in doubt, remember a stoplight:
Red=STOP;
Yellow=Proceed with caution--commit or don't commit to the class;
Green=Good to Go--you have registered correctly for the course.
I have created the document above with Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) that I often get. Please read over this document as it will offer clarification on a number of questions/concerns that you may have. If the answer is not found on the document, please reach out to me via email or phone to clear up any areas of confusion. I am happy to help walk you through the process via zoom or over the phone if needed. Please use the link below to schedule an appointment at a specific date and time. I look forward to working with you.
Take care!
P.S. If you are a senior and plan on staying at CFCC after you graduate, please remember that you must have re-applied to CFCC as an undergraduate student for us to move you to a traditional student this summer.
