Math Homework is still given weekly on Mondays and collected Friday’s (unless otherwise noted on planbook) Students can take a picture of homework and email to me if they like as well as downloading the google doc from Planbook and sharing with me. Homework is posted on Monday's in Planbook :)
Students Grades: Ask your child to show you his/her grades on Powerschool. They ALL know how to do this because we log in almost weekly. Any missing work or zeros ask them about this and what they can do better going forward.
Notes on Missing Work:
Making up missed assignments are accepted within a week of due date. After that, it is more important for students to focus on current work going forward so they do not fall further behind.
If your student has a zero and is within a week of the assignment due date- First they need to check their binder and book bag. It is very likely they just did not turn it into the class turn in box. If they know they turned it in they need to check the "no name" wall in the classroom. (Most of the time it is there.) If their assignment is not there, they can look for extra copies in the "While You Were Out" bin that is organized by subject and day. If there are no extra copies they are welcome to print it off at home by looking on Planbook.com or google classroom. If the assignment is not posted on planbook or google classroom they may give me a sticky note with the assignment name and due date they need and I will copy for them (as long as it is within a week of the due date) OR they can email me the same info.
Open Up Quizzes and Tests: Students get credit for showing work and explaining reasoning on quizzes even if their final answer is incorrect. Extended Responses are Tiered with 1 being the most points earned and 3 being the least points earned. The only time a student earns ZERO points is if they get the incorrect answer and do not show work or explain reasoning.
Tier 1 response:
Work is complete and correct.
The two parallelograms may have the same base and height as long as they are not congruent.
Tier 2 response:
Work shows general conceptual understanding and mastery, with some errors.
Tier 3 response:
Significant errors in work demonstrate lack of conceptual understanding or mastery.
Students can always make corrections using a test correction sheet to bring up a low test or quiz score.
