There has been a huge emphasis with the learners on Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) this term and there has been a really enthusiastic response! Most learners have been very self-reflective and have tried to select an experience to address those areas which they would like to develop. As well as some excellent Creative experiences such as learning an instrument or developing a new Art technique, learners have chosen some really good ways of keeping Active, ranging from dragon boating to mountain biking to participation in sports teams. In terms of Service it has been wonderful to hear of the positive ideas proposed by learners; whilst some of these may seem small, such as reading to a younger learner, they can have a huge impact on people's lives. It is heartening to see several groups of learners coming forward to raise money for charities in so many innovative ways.
The sense of community also extends to our parents and it has been good to see many of you attending the IT workshops over the last fortnight. I have met a number of parents who attended the Greg Jansen workshop last week and they seemed to really enjoy his positivity and solutions-based approach to restoring relationships in our community when things go wrong. As a school we believe that learning focused relationships are the key to success in all areas and so it is vitally important to keep these strong.
Sports reports are starting to come in and we are performing at a high level against other international schools. Please do come along and join events to support your son or daughter. All the Sport is captured on the Sports Page which you reach by clicking the symbol with three horizontal lines at the top left of the page if you are viewing on a phone.
Our first University applications of the year have just been made with three learners having made applications for Cambridge University, which has a very early deadline. We wish them the best of luck and it is great to see them aiming high.
The Year 7 Parent Consultation Evening is on Tuesday afternoon and we look forward to meeting parents and discussing their children's learning.
Have a good weekend.
