You will shortly receive email notification to allow you to book appointments. We will be offering a hybrid model with some face to face appointments and some online appointments to accommodate different families needs. Face to face appointments will be available between 4pm and 8pm on Thursday 6th and between 8am and 10 am on Friday 7th. Online appointments will be available from 10am to 4pm on Friday 7th.
CCAs will run from Monday, 12 September until 18 November 2022
ACSIS Sport training for Season 1 will run from Monday, 22 August until Friday, 11 November 2022
Thank you to all of you who have shared your concerns around our uniform. We would like to consult with the community to help us going forward. Please share your views with us here.
Any changes going forward will be implemented slowly to allow both Nexus families and the supplier to make use of existing uniform and prevent waste.
Please note that the IGCSE examination boards do not confirm the timetable until Term 3. It is worth noting these have run from April to the end of June and you may want to delay booking any flights until the schedule is confirmed. Nexus has no control over these dates and they can run on public holidays and into the summer holidays. We will share the schedule as soon as it is available.
Nexus holds trial examinations for Year 11 learners from 9th January to 20th January and for Year 10 learners from 10th April to 20th April. These are deliberately placed to allow maximum teaching to have occurred before the assessments to ensure realistic experiences for learners and authentic feedback on their performance. These dates also ensure that there is sufficient time for learners to work with their teachers to maximise their chances of success.
The IB have published a provisional schedule for the May 2023 examinations which run between April 27th and May 19th. Please note Nexus has no control over these dates and they can run on public holidays.
Nexus holds trial examinations for Year 13 learners from 9th January to 20th January. These are deliberately placed to allow maximum teaching to have occurred before the assessments to ensure realistic experiences for learners and authentic feedback on their performance. These dates also ensure that there is sufficient time for learners to work with their teachers to maximise their chances of success.
Upcoming Events: This weekend (16th and 17th September) RightU are hosting a global university fair in Singapore. There will be 70+ university booths with opportunities to join seminars, speak directly with university reps and even have application fees waived. See this website for more information.
The University of Edinburgh are hosting an undergrad information night on 6th October 5-7pm at Tanglin Trust School. Interested students may register here.
Year 10 Careers and University Notices
This week the Year 10 learners kickstarted their Careers and University programme at Nexus. This is a perfect time to start reflecting on favourite subjects, projects and learning styles as well as beginning to research possible future careers. The learners joined a platform called ‘Morrisby Careers’ where they can take psychometric assessments and learn about what subjects are needed for particular university courses. Morrisby is trusted by over 1500 schools worldwide and aims to promote self-discovery, action planning and careers guidance to participants. Follow this link to learn more about ‘Morrisby Careers’.
Year 12 and 13 Careers and University Notices
Our Year 12 and 13 learners are very much looking forward to our first non-virtual university fair in a long time. On Monday 19th September, we will be joining 112 universities from all across the world at The Lion City Fair.
Some of these universities include:
University of Sydney, The University of Western Australia, UBC, University of Toronto, University College Dublin (UCD), Bocconi University, University College Utrecht, IE University, Durham University, University of Exeter, Imperial College London, King's College London, Lancaster University, University of Notre Dame, University of St Andrews, University of Surrey, University of Warwick, University of York, University of California, San Diego, Claremont McKenna College, School of the Art Institute of Chicago... to name but a few!
The learners have been given a QR code with a list of questions they should ask the university reps and are encouraged to shortlist their universities of interest ahead of the fair. This will ensure that the experience is meaningful and productive for all. Learners are required to wear full school uniform. Departure time is 8.20am on Monday morning at the main staircase on Level 1.
