Nexus Business Management learners in Year 12 participated in the CME Group 2019 High School Trading Challenge from 23 September to 6 October. Teams from UWC, OFS, The French School, the Australian School and Nexus participated in the challenge. Each team was given $100,000 of virtual money to invest in commodities on the stock exchange with the goal to make the most profit over the two week period.
For the second year running the winning team was from Nexus. To make it even better, another Nexus team came third – so Nexus had two teams in the top three! This year was a particularly impressive win given that it was a very volatile week on the world’s markets. The winning team worked very hard to maintain their lead – they were so motivated they even got up in the middle of the night to make trades!
Congratulations to the winning Nexus Team 3 - Jackson Wang, Connie Yan and Kevin Yu and to the Nexus team that came third, Nexus Bulls - Paloma Canos Cervera, Stella Cao, Deboleena Roy, Dhruv Sharma, Guanju Wang.
We were pleased to have Mr Christopher Fix, Managing Director, Head of Asia Pacific at CME Group join us for an assembly where he presented prizes to the winning team.

The Christmas Fair was a lovely occasion and was complemented by the fantastic music concerts in the afternoon and early evening. Santa was a big hit with the little ones and the learner stalls were very popular with all age groups. Christmas will look very different next year!
Last Thursday saw the Year 9 learners out & about to visit some of Singapore’s places of worship as part of their unit on belief systems. The group first went to St Joseph's Church in Upper Bukit Timah after learning that there are in fact two St Joseph's. From there the group headed to Chinatown for lunch at Maxwell Food Court before visiting Sri Mariamman temple and the Buddha Tooth Relic Museum & Temple. Our learners were a credit to themselves as they were polite and respectful at each of the sites we visited.
