We are so close to saying goodbye to our homely campus of the last 8 years at Ulu Pandan. Built by the Singapore American School in 1973, it has also been the home to the Australian School, as well as some other short-lived operators.
Taylor's took over the Ulu Pandan site in 2011 and half of the school was actually closed off. It has been the most wonderful journey to be able to open up the whole campus and refurbish extensively before knocking down walls and creating the flexible learning spaces, which are key to our pedagogy.
We are looking forward to our next chapter at Aljunied and we are delighted to announce that we will be taking all of our learners to the new site on Wednesday 11th December. Learners will be taken by bus at various times to have a tour of their learning spaces so they can experience the campus beyond what they saw at the Sneak Peek event.
If you would prefer that your child does not take part in this tour, please email studentservices@nexus.edu.sg to let them know and we will supervise them in school.
We have had some lovely events in the last fortnight, from formal functions such as the Year 8 Parent Consultation and the Year 9/11 Options Evening, to the excellent Year 9 Humanities trip which you can read more about here.
I am so proud of the entrepreneurial spirit shown at Nexus. One of our Junior Achievement groups is called Revival and they have produced bags made from repurposed and recycled materials. The bags are truly stunning and sales have been going well, including at yesterday's Fair. We wish them every success in the finals of the Junior Achievement Award Finals next term! You can also read about the brilliant success of our High School Trading Challenge team here.
The First Day at Our New School will be genuinely exciting for all of us. All learners will be welcomed by numerous members of staff on day one to support their introduction to our fabulous new building. Please refer to this important information about the First Day Of School.
Please be informed that as we are moving to our new school, the Cashier's office will end its operation in Ulu Pandan at 5pm on 13 December 2019. It will commence operation in Aljunied at 8am on 19 December 2019.
It has been wonderful to celebrate Christmas at our current site for the last time - the Fair yesterday afternoon was excellent, as were the Carols. Huge congratulations to everyone involved in the Fair and to our wonderful musicians!
