IGCSE certificates from the Cambridge Examinations board have arrived. Learners can pick these up from Learner Services reception.
It has come to our attention that several learners have SafeEntry tokens that are no longer working. Please check the token is still working by looking to see if a light flashes every minute. If the token does not have a light, you can exchange it for a working one via a vending machine at most Community Centres. The school's safe-entry check-in process is significantly delayed when we are unable to use Bluetooth technology with tokens.
It has come to our attention that adults are targeting young people offering vaping equipment outside of school. As a school, we do work to educate our learners through assemblies, the curriculum and tutor time about the health risks involved and the risks of breaking the law in Singapore. Vaping equipment can look like a USB thumb drive and be very easy to disguise as it is often deliberately designed to look like a toy and appeal to young people. Vaping is illegal in Singapore and there are serious health implications for adolescents and young people using it. To find out more, do read this article.
The legal age for alcohol consumption and purchase in Singapore is 18. With the delivery culture in Singapore, it can be relatively easy for young people to order alcohol deliveries to parks and other outdoor spaces and while delivery companies such as Grab recommend their drivers check for proof of age, there are no robust measures in place.
Please support the work we do in school to keep young people educated so they can make informed choices and keep themselves safe. Singapore has very low tolerance of illegal activity and such activity can lead to custodial sentences and the revocation of employment passes.
The IB Examinations run from 29 April to 20 May. Please note that the schedule was updated in July 2021.
