Please JOIN Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/nexusparentgroup/ as the best way of us reaching out to you other than through the class Whatsapp groups. If parents choose to opt-out, that is of course, their right, however we strongly advise against this because we have no way of reaching you. The School is legally unable to assist us with the provision of email addresses and numbers, so please HELP us form our own consolidated member list. Please email us at any time npg@nexus.edu.sg
Just a quick note to let you all know of our activities over the last two weeks.
Term 2 Casual Coffee: Tuesday, 29 October 2019, 8:30am, NPG Lounge
Thank you to all who attended this event – at its peak there were over 30 parents which is wonderful and of course leads to new connections, new friendships and an opportunity for parents to provide feedback.
Halloween Discos: Friday, 1 November 2019, 3:30pm
The three discos were a huge success and a very proud feather in the cap for the NPG Committee members and the many other parent and helper volunteers, who always come through on the day – you know who you are!
We are not sure yet of the numbers involved, but it seemed that every primary learner and literally 200 or 300 parents and helpers were involved either in an activity, were dancing at the disco or were being spooked in the haunted house across the afternoon.
Secondary School learners had their chance to get involved and enjoy the Halloween movie. So many people to thank… on the NPG Committee side, this event was led by Ashley Du Toit. Ashley quietly and tirelessly “made” the event. Thanks also to the incredibly hardworking Gina Maier, Helle Willumsen, Tanu Shukla and Suse Lyons, as well as all other volunteers. Secondary School learner, Kian and his friends kept the disco pumping and safe kept watch on the disco and subsequent movie night, and a final big thank you to Peter Hart for his logistical support before and during the event.
Love being around books? Like organising things? Want a behind the scenes view of a library?
How you can be involved. We need your help to:
Send us your interest to library@nexus.edu.sg and please keep a look out for NPG Committee Member Ms Simone Falcao. Let us know your preferred phone number (for the Library WhatsApp group), the number of days and which days you are available, the timings (morning or afternoons: before pick-up is ideal), and whether in addition to the English titles you could help with specific language books.
We look forward to meeting you and working together over the school year.
Your NPG General Committee – your representative voice to the school – is meeting twice before Christmas (including this coming Tuesday) and now that Halloween is out of the way, we have a full range of serious and not-so-serious agenda topics. Our focus is now to drill down on topics ranging from the move to our new school and drafting a parent survey, planning next year’s calendar (including social and coffee morning workshops) and other discussions around other important issues you'd like us to raise.
For those interested, and this is a growing activity, please head to this link and sign-up. Tuesday and Thursday mornings:

President of the Nexus Parent Group
One of our School’s unique pillars is what many parents and staff describe as a special community spirit.
The NPG serves two purposes within our community. Firstly, to provide parents with a platform through which to start conversations and provide feedback to the School – to be “a voice of the School community”. Secondly, to offer a range of great social, cultural and special interest events. We welcome all volunteers to join our vibrant and diverse committee, with the main aim of maintaining an inclusive NPG where all ideas are considered valuable.
Our Facebook NPG group is a place for all our parents (and other members that are close friends of Nexus) to interact and create a closer community. Please feel free to post questions, reminders or any related comments but do refrain from lodging sales posts, we do have the second-hand buy-and-sell group for these posts or advertising your business. Please email us at any time npg@nexus.edu.sg https://www.facebook.com/groups/nexusparentgroup/
