On the last week of term we will be holding Wellbeing Week. Wellbeing Week is an opportunity for the whole community to focus on our Wellbeing. The tagline of the week is 'Better Together', chosen by learners to focus on how we as Nexus really are better together and can come together safely to have fun and support one another, especially with the current Covid situation.
During this week staff and learners will have a range of opportunities to focus on their social, emotional and physical Wellbeing both in their classes and as a whole school. With activities ranging from yoga and mindfulness to weaving and storytelling, drama and a whole range of team sports. Learners will also have opportunities to try new creative activities such as learning a new instrument, lego robotics and STEM activities, stain glass painting, Zumba and even break dancing!
My huge thanks to all the learners that are planning activities, such as art workshops; sharing songs; activities to help others. A few activities that we would like to highlight to families are:
Food Drive - we recognise that connecting with people and helping others helps our wellbeing too. During the week we will be asking families to donate non-perishable goods to be donated to Singapore's Food from the Heart charity. Further details will follow.
Active Day - on Thursday 18th of March all learners should come dressed in their Nexus HPE kits as we are going to have an Active Thursday to promote physical Wellbeing. For Years 10-13 if you don't have a Nexus HPE kit please wear your school uniform.
'Wear what makes you happy' dress up day - on Friday 19th of March we encourage all learners to wear what makes them happy! We encourage learners to think about what makes them happy and represent that in their clothing. This could be a favourite outfit or a crazy costume. The choice is theirs! (No monetary donation is required.)
As part of the Wellbeing Week celebrations, one group of children is asking learners and their families to share a cultural or creative dance with our community.

Our super swim coaches - Ivan, Larisa and Adrian have prepared an amazing swimming camp to help improve your existing techniques, whilst enjoying fun water games such as relay racing, splash ball and an amazing underwater adventure.
We are excited to invite anyone from Year 3 & above to join this camp. You must be able to demonstrate three recognisable strokes and swim 100 metres non-stop to join. Of course, we would love to see swimmers from our Pre-Competitive and Developmental Squads again, who had an amazing time and learned so much during our Christmas Camp last December.
Please sign up before the registration deadline of Friday 19 March. We look forward to seeing you in the pool!
Camps, unfortunately, will not be able to be run if there is insufficient interest by the registration deadline. You will be informed by Wednesday 24 March if camps will not be running.
