We are excited to announce our 4th Climbathon at Nexus. It will be held this month on Monday 28th of May with all learners from Nursery through to Year 9 involved.
As you may be aware, April 26th was the anniversary of the terrible 2015 Nepal earthquake, when we held our first Climbathon to support those communities in Nepal who had been affected by the devastation. Over the past three years, the Nexus community has been very active in supporting the charity Chora Chori, who support children in Nepal. The charity’s primary focus is to ensure the children have a safe environment to grow up in and can receive an education to enable a bright future.
More information about the event will be sent home over the next couple of weeks, including a sponsorship form for the event itself. Learners will be following a route, walking as many laps as they can, around the school within a set amount of time.
In the meantime please watch this short video which shares a little more about the sustained relationship that we have developed with Chora Chori, and how grateful they are of our continued support.
The money raised will be going towards helping enable the children’s refuge, that you see in the video, to develop more sustainable projects to teach the children life skills. It will also help to develop the infrastructure, allowing it to accept more children in need of a safe community and education
Climbathon Team
On Monday, 28 May, learners from Years 6 and 7 will be taking part in a team-building session in the morning. This is an introduction to the Year 6 ‘Transition to Secondary’ Days on the Wednesday and Thursday of that week. This will be held on the top field at Nexus International School (Singapore). The focus of the morning will be on participation in a team building environment enabling relationships to be formed between Year 6 and 7 learners from each house.
Please ensure your child brings the following items to school on the day:
