Dear Parents and Guardians
Welcome to Term 4! I hope you all managed to enjoy some time together with your children, our learners during the break. I know some of you cruised to nowhere while others enjoyed days out and staycations. I would like to take this opportunity to welcome the new Nexus learners and their families who joined this term. It is great to see the Secondary school grow. This growth helps us to be able to offer new subjects. From August we will be offering Spanish from Y9 and Psychology at IB level, which gives our Nexus learners even more opportunity to show how they can be successful. Our Open Days for new families have attracted a lot of interest and I would like to thank all of you who have been recommending us to friends and colleagues. Your support means a lot to us.
Term 3 ended with the fantastic Nexus Book Week. Thanks to the amazing library team, learners across the school enjoyed a range of book-related challenges throughout the week. This included virtual and in-person visits from local and international authors; mystery readers; book cover illustration sessions and much more!
The week culminated in our ever-popular book character dress up day. We were delighted to see so many learners and staff with amazing costumes, many choosing books from their home countries as inspiration.
It has been a busy start to Term 4 as our Y11 and Y13 learners bring their learning together in preparation for their final exams. Our Y10 and Y12 learners are currently sitting trial examinations to see how their learning is progressing mid-way through their IGCSE and IB courses. Please do remember to read on to follow another of our learners' university application journeys and to see the learners we are celebrating and why. Last week saw our talented learners perform in Nexus Beats. It was great to see learners from across the school take the stage and share their passion and skills as they performed. Well done to all involved.
Our learners will be celebrating Earth Week next week as we observe UN International Mother Earth Day on 22 April. Our Humanities team is planning some innovative inquiry linking clothing to carbon footprints. It is these creative and authentic learning opportunities that really enable Nexus learners to become well-rounded, academically successful, global citizens!
Wishing you all a great week ahead.
Best wishes
Dr Heather
