WOW! What a finish to the House Cup events for the year! This annual team building event which acts as the introduction to the week of Year 6 Transition Days (to Secondary School) has become a real highlight in the calendar for our Year 6 and 7 learners. The weather tried to have its say but we moved the events inside and definitely did not let that dampen our spirits.
Each house had two teams representing them, made up of a mix of both Year 6 & 7 learners. There were many different challenges on offer. Some of the highlights were said to be the ‘Tent Tip’, and of course the ‘Fireman Flick’, although there was much fun and laughter had at all stations.
After the teams had battled it out on the stations, the final positions were decided by the much anticipated Tug ‘o’ War. It was Angin (Yellow) and Api (Red) House who went through to the final which proved to be an absolute cracker! Congratulations must go to Angin House for taking top spot in this event, once all the results were in.
This made for a very exciting last run for a couple of houses who were in contention to lift the House Cup for this academic year. While everybody had a lot of fun along the way, there comes a time when we must acknowledge the winners of the House Cup for the 2018/19 academic year. Congratulations to TANAH (GREEN) HOUSE who have now claimed back to back cups for the just the second time in our history. Good luck defending it next academic year. Those other houses are hot on your heels...

On Thursday and Friday last week our Year 6 learners officially became members of the secondary school. After a short assembly they headed out to meet their new teachers, learn in different classrooms, discover challenging and creative tasks and demonstrate greater independence during break times - yes they could choose whatever they wanted to eat and where they wanted to play..... As always the learners embraced each day with energy, enthusiasm and commitment making wonderful connections with senior learners, asking questions and preparing themselves for the next year of their learning journey.
Thank you Year 6, for being so amazing and we look forward to seeing you all next year!

On Friday and Saturday, twelve more learners from Years 9 and 10 took part in their Qualifying Adventurous Journey camp to Pulau Ubin. Despite a huge storm on the morning of our departure, the weather was kind to us except for a morning shower just as most were breaking camp. No snakes were seen this time, but lots of other wildlife was spotted around the island of Pulau Ubin. One group ran out of fuel and successfully improvised by starting and cooking on a bonfire and are now experts.
The Year 9s had a rare opportunity to visit and learn from the Accenture Connect team at their Singapore Innovation Hub last Tuesday, June 4th. The Accenture team, headed by Dali Sanghera, Urmila Mandapaka and Aisha Hussain, were very welcoming and had many insights to share. Learners spent the afternoon discussing design and thinking about innovation. They tested various prototypes in development at Accenture and were struck by the possibilities of the future, including virtual reality shopping, agriculture drone monitoring, and civilian safety identification. They also had an opportunity to present their prototypes for green technology and receive valuable feedback. Learners were nervous about presenting but really stepped it up as they showcased their prototypes. Well done Year 9!

A huge thank you for all those who have made donations through the sponsorship for the Climbathon. A total has not yet been counted as money is still coming in, but a current estimate is that around $6,500 has been raised. This is a fantastic amount and will make a huge difference to the lives of the young people supported by Chora Chori, Nepal. They have also communicated their thanks for the continued support. Watch this short video to hear their gratitude and see what the money is going to go towards.

Inspired by the sad news of Joseph in Year 10 who has been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, our resourceful learners took it upon themselves to raise money to support cancer research. Organising a satellite shaving event at our very own Nexus campus, three barbers came to school to shave some 25 heads, both learners and staff. This seems to have been particularly successful event with an astonishing amount raised thus far: over $16,000!!! If you would like to donate please head to here:
Well done to all concerned and thank you for taking such a brave step to support cancer research and Joseph.
