Secondary Music Ensembles Concert

Secondary music ensembles (Choir, Chamber Choir, Orchestra, Guitar Ensemble, Y11 Band and IB soloists) will perform an array of Classic's old and new. Parents, friends and the wider Nexus community are invited to attend. The concert will last approx 1hr.

Year 7 Drum Kit Project - free drum kit lesson on offer

This term all of the year 7's have had the opportunity in class to learn the drum kit as part of our unit of work. The learners have worked in small groups to take turns to practise simple drum beat patterns such as Ska, Rock and Heavy Rock. They then learnt to incorporate riffs and play along to a drum less track for their assessments.

Many learners have embraced this project with enthusiasm and have really enjoyed it. For those year 7 learners who would to take their learning further I am able to offer a free trial drum kit lesson with one of our Aureus drum kit teachers. For those learners who prefer to work in a group we offer a free Percussion club every Friday after school for Secondary learners.

Secondary Music Concert - Message to Performers parents

We are looking forward to our Secondary Music Ensembles next week on Wednesday 7 March at 7pm in the Nexus Auditorium.

This date hopefully has been in your calendar since the start of term. Please also invite family and friends to come and watch the performance.

The concert will take place in the auditorium starting at 7pm, however all learners are required in be back in school and waiting in the music pod at 6.15pm so we can tune instruments or warm up our voices together.

Here are some further details for next week:

TUESDAY 6th March

During the day there will be some ensemble rehearsals and we will also put together the grand finale “This is Me”. Bring all your music, instruments and read the bulletin carefully for timings.

Wednesday 7th March

During the day there will be some last minute ‘fix up’ rehearsals. Bring your music and instruments just incase!

6.15pm ALL PERFORMERS RETURN STRAIGHT TO A2

We will tune instruments and have a warm up before going together to the auditorium.

6.45pm: Move to the auditorium and take your positions

7 - 8pm: Concert

What to wear:

BOYS: Any combination of black or white collared top and black trousers. Shoes suitable for a performance situation.

GIRLS: Any combination of black or white, e.g. a shirt and skirt or a dress. Please make sure skirts/dresses are knee-length or longer, and no spaghetti or narrow strappy tops. Shoes suitable for a performance situation.
