From our Head of Primary

The highlight of this fortnight has to be the fantastic production by our Year 2 learners. The children have been exploring 'stories' as part of their current UOI. As part of their initial challenge, learners committed to playing a part in a small production. The commitment, confidence and sheer energy all our young performers showed was amazing. A huge thanks to all the staff involved, in particular our director and script writer, Ms Rachael, and our music director, Mr Chris.

News of all our other events over the last two weeks can be viewed under 'Recent Events'.

Last week our Friday assemblies for Years 1 to 6 focused on our Nexus Values that we are reminded of through the acronym RECIPE (Respect, Excellence, Communication, Integrity, Passion, Enjoyable Environments).

We baked chocolate cakes, but some ingredients were forgotten or changed. These cakes tasted awful! Only the cake following the correct RECIPE was delicious. This reminded us that we should reflect on and follow all the Nexus values, our RECIPE.

If you’d like to try making our Nexus Chocolate Cake this weekend, the Nexus RECIPE is here:

3 TABLESPOONS OF FLOUR

2 TABLESPOONS OF SUGAR

2 TEASPOONS OF CHOCOLATE POWDER

¼ TEASPOON OF BAKING POWDER

4 TABLESPOONS OF MILK

1 TABLESPOON OF OIL

DROP OF VANILLA FLAVOUR

1 TEASPOON OF CHOCOLATE CHIPS

ADD ALL THE INGREDIENTS IN A LARGE CUP OR MUG AND WHISK UNTIL IT IS SMOOTH

MICROWAVE FOR 45 SECONDS AND LET IT COOL FOR 3 MINUTES

May I take a moment to once again remind all parents and guardians that children must be closely supervised after school so everyone has a safe and enjoyable time. We are impressed with how well our learners play at snack and lunchtime. However, there have been a number of incidents of children not being properly supervised after school, leading to them having accidents or making poor choices.

Please also note that from 8 March there will be a change to our Friday assembly times - please look at 'Important Notices' for details.

Finally, many families have recently mentioned about travelling along the PIE and seeing our new school rapidly taking shape. As we go through the year we will continue to update you with progress, how we will celebrate our time at Ulu Pandan and the various initiatives around our move to the East Coast. For now, here are a few of the latest photographs.

Enjoy your weekend.
