I'd like to take this opportunity to draw your attention to the exert below from the Parent Learner Handbook regarding our First Aid Centre and the need to keep children at home during certain times.
If Learner Services or school nurse call you during the day and advise you your child is unwell and needs picking up please ensure they are collected promptly, please do not wait until the end of the work day. If you are unable to collect your child it is expected that you will arrange another adult to collect them and look after them for you.
Learners from Nursery - Year 4 cannot be put in a taxi or allowed to leave without an adult, they need to be collected from school by a responsible adult.
If a learner is too ill to be in lessons they are also too ill to ride the school bus home and alternative arrangements will need to be made by you to get them home safely.
Our nurses are a busy team, but always willing to help in any way they can, if you have any medical related information you would like to share with them, please do - nurse@nexus.edu.sg
Medical Matters
Nexus has a First Aid Centre with on-site school nurses, who are well qualified to attend to medical issues during the school day. The nursing team is also available to provide information and education to parents and teachers on health related issues of relevance to the Nexus community. The nursing team provides additional support for families with allergies and/or medical conditions.
INFECTION CONTROL GUIDELINES
In order to reduce the spread of infection within school and to close family members, please monitor your child for any symptoms of illness and follow the Infection Control Guidelines stated below. Please do not send your child to school if she/he has any of the following:
Fever (Tympanic temperature ≥ 37.6℃)
Please ensure your child is fever free without medication for at least 24 hours prior to returning to school.
Diarrhoea – 24 hours after last episode
Vomiting (not due to overexertion or motion sickness) – 24 hours after last episode
Persistent cough
Heavy nasal discharge (with/without fever)
Sore throat
Red eyes (particularly with discharge)
Rash (of any unknown cause)
Wounds with discharge (such as an infected insect bite, excessive fluid discharge from wound site)
Consider keeping your child at home if they appear particularly tired. You will be contacted to collect your child if they have any of the above symptoms or if the nursing team assesses that your child is unwell. Please ensure that your child is symptom-free for at least 24 hours before returning to school and all existing healing wounds are covered with a dressing. If wounds appear infected, please seek prompt medical attention. If you visit a doctor and your child is issued with a medical certificate, please adhere to the full number of days they should remain at home as advised by the doctor.
We will be sharing some really useful resources, videos and training over the upcoming months with our community. If you have a child in Year 6 going into the Year 7 MYP next year, you will find these quick bits of learning really helpful.
We will keep these little learning 'bites' to around 3 minutes.
If you missed the Parent Workshop on assessment in the MYP please feel free to catch up on the session here!
The workshop was delivered in both English and Mandarin.

Uniform
We have noticed that some learners aren't wearing the correct uniform.
Unfortunately crocs or flip flops/slippers are not suitable footwear for our active school life. The only time we use them are for our Nursery and Kindergarten learners for water play.
We also request you ensure your child is wearing appropriate sneakers or trainers for their PHE lesson.
If your child gets cold during the school day they need to wear a school hoodie. We appreciate in the past there have been supply issues but are delighted to let you know that currently uniform is being delivered 3-5 days from ordering. From Term 4 we request that learners are only wearing their Nexus hoodies in school.
Jewellery can unfortunately be a hazard for our younger learners. We respectfully request that all jewellery be saved for out of school. Exceptions are small stud earrings, medical bracelets and items of cultural or religious significance. We request that these items be kept as discrete as possible.
Thank you
