This year's Years 3 to 6 Inter-house Cross Country started with a very wet morning out at Bedok Reservoir last Friday. However, our young learners didn’t let that dampen their spirits. It was the first opportunity for some of our Year 3 learners to participate in such an event and they loved it!
We managed to get 6 out of 8 races completed on the day and Year 6 children were able to complete their races later in the week. Every participant earned points for their house, which meant the support from one another was immense. Congratulations to Tanah (Green) House for taking out the honours in the first house event of the year. As defending champs of the House Cup, they have managed to retain top spot on the podium for another term.
A special mention also, to our top runners that day who earned maximum points for their house with some sensational races.
A massive thank you to all staff, parents and most importantly learners who were involved. Bring on the Inter-house Track and Field Days in January 2019!

Year 4 learners went on a field trip recently to explore the many places around Singapore. This trip consisted of four separate explorations that the learners selected on the basis of interest. Once they returned, they had an opportunity to work with their group to share their learning with their class.
The four field trips around Singapore concentrated on the impact migration has had, primarily the local Malay population, the Chinese, Indian and British influence. With walking shoes on, the four groups visited the major areas where these four cultures have had the most impact. Sketching buildings, visiting museums, trying the food and a host of other experiences, the learners got a taste for the cultures that make up Singapore.
Now it's off to Malacca, another city with a similar history to Singapore!
Kindergarten went on their first trip of the year to the Singapore Repertory Theatre to see The Little Company's production of The Cat in the Hat. The classic Dr. Seuss tale was performed in Mandarin, yet our learners were thoroughly entertained by the wonderful set designs, amusing sound effects and fabulous acting. When we returned to school some of our learners were inspired by the Cat's awesome cleaning machine, so they designed and created their own...
Year 6 learners have been busy developing their understanding of how we organise ourselves through organising a parent Mini Exhibition focusing on Digital Citizenship. The children went through a process of interviewing their parents in order to identify important knowledge and skills that they needed in order to be effective digital citizens. Workshops were then designed by groups of children covering topics as diverse as keynote animation, digital breakouts and cyberbullying to share with our parent community.
Following our Digital Mini Exhibition, the Year 6 learners are also keeping busy developing and then enjoying their Year 6 Sleepover - The DarKnight.
Planned by children, run by children and to be enjoyed by everyone, the aim of the evening is to build problem solving and teamwork skills, create menus, meals and put up our own accommodation. Our activities committee are ensuring everyone is kept busy and having fun. It is sure to be an experience to remember which will help us all as we aim towards the Year 6 PYP Exhibition next year.
