The NPG NEEDS You!
Without the active and generous participation of our parent volunteers (all parents are automatically members of the NPG), the Nexus family would not be the strong, thriving, and supportive community that it is!
UPCOMING: Wednesday, 19 September, 8:30am:
We are now in a position to allocate interested volunteers to subcommittee roles. All parents are invited to join us on Wednesday, 19 September, at 8:30am in the NPG Lounge. Our Second Vice President (Events), Tanu Shukla, will take charge of this gathering. Tanu will be looking to organise parent volunteers into various sub-committees, one for the Nexus Festive Fiesta on 12 December, another to handle coffee mornings and NPG workshops, and perhaps another (welcome committee) to assist in the orientation of new parents. As always, all new ideas and thoughts are welcome. All details are on the Committee Form so please complete this and see you Wednesday.
Monday, 3 September, NPG AGM:
Thank you to all who attended our AGM for this year. We enjoyed a great turnout of over 30 Members and were joined by Judy, Stephanie and Paul showing support and representing the School. Once the Chair’s and Treasurer’s Reports were read and accepted, the new executive was elected and appointed.
President - Simon Hyett
First V-P - Reinet Doig
Second V-P (Events) - Tanu Shukla
Treasurer - Helle Willumsen
Secretary - Suzie Bacon
Following the formalities, a rich, general discussion took place involving planning, feedback and free-flowing ideas. A special thanks to Monica de Waal for her participation, counsel and guidance at the AGM and generally. Minutes and the Constitution are available to all members on request.
Thursday, 13 September, NPG Morning Seminar: Travel Talk – Australia and New Zealand
We were delighted to host Ms Vicki Baensch of Australia Expat Travel this morning, in the NPG Lounge. The Wide Brown Land offers something for everyone: beaches, bush, great nightlife and culture and the world’s best coffee (just ask our Italian parents, they’ll agree) and Australia’s wonderful eastern cousin New Zealand, a friendly and safe nation offering spectacular scenery and outdoor adventures… and… rugby – the perfect getaway. Thank you Vicki (vicki@ausexpattravel.com.au)!
About the NPG:
One of our school’s unique pillars is what many parents and staff describe as a special community spirit. The NPG serves two purposes within this community - to provide parents with a platform through which to start conversations with, and provide feedback, to the school – to be “a voice of the school community” and to provide a range of great social, cultural and special interest events. We welcome all volunteers to join our vibrant and diverse committee, with the main aim of maintaining an inclusive NPG where all ideas are valued.
Warmest wishes,
Simon Hyett
President, Nexus Parent Group
