In our Friday Assembly for Years 1 to 6, again we tasted yummy cakes as we did two weeks ago! The cakes were a reminder that we are all part of the Nexus community and as part of the community we follow a set of shared values - our RECIPE (Respect, Excellence, Communication, Integrity, Passion, Enjoyable Environments). However, this week we had a range of decorations on our cakes. This was a reminder that we are all part of the Nexus community and share the same values, but we all bring our own unique qualities to the school, which is what makes it such a special place to be. We celebrate diversity and challenge minds!
Meanwhile, the Nursery and Kindergarten learners shared the story The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. Some of our Kindergarten learners know the story well and were able to share the meaning of the story with our younger Nursery learners. The message of the story is to show kindness to others, it also emphasises the importance of friendship. We also talked about two of our PYP Attitudes: Respect and Cooperation. In Phase 1 we use images of Mr Men characters to support the children’s understanding of what it means to cooperate and be respectful. Mr Friendly helps us to work together and Miss Kind is always caring towards others.
