Last week, a group of our Year 6 learners organised our very first dress-up day in our new campus. It was fantastic to see costumes and colours across 12 storeys! The learners organised the event in response to the devastating bushfires that have impacted Australia.
Learners from across the school donned Australian flags, snuggled their favourite animals and sported green and gold to show empathy for all the communities and ecosystems impacted by the fires. The event raised a staggering $1,600 that will be donated to WIRES.
This year has seen the patter of numerous little feet.
Earlier in the year, Claire Lambert our Music Subject Leader, gave birth to Pip and Aletia Aston-Soards, our Visual Arts Subject Leader's gave birth to twins, Theo and Malachi.
In February, we have welcomed three more additions to the Nexus family.

Baby Abby was born on 19 February to Ally Wang, our Admissions Executive. Mum and baby are doing well. Anna Shaw also gave birth this week to baby Leo. Born on February 29, Leo is a Leapling! Anna and Leo are both settling in well at home.

It has been sad that we haven't been able to invite friends and families into school to share in all the wonderful learning experiences that have been taking place across the school. I know that Mini Exhibitions are particularly popular for our learners; they love to share their learning journey with you. We do hope that you are finding the Hub a useful 'Window into the Classroom', as teachers share some of the learning taking place each week. Take a look under 'Recent Events' to see some of the highlights from across the Year Groups. With an engaging, thought-provoking, inquiry-rich education the possibilities for our children in future are endless!
May I request support for our fantastic learners involved in the performing arts. Unfortunately, two of our annual highlights: Nexus Beats and the Whole School Production have not been able to go ahead in their usual formats. However, due to the hard work and creative-thinking of our staff, both events have taken place! Nexus Beats was streamed live from our music studios via Facebook and has over one thousand views already. Please take a moment to view a performance or two by clicking the links in the 'Arts' section. Meanwhile, in our state of the art auditorium, the Hairspray production has been in full flow. Watch out for 'Hairspray - the Documentary' coming soon (see 'Upcoming Events' for a couple of sneak-peek photos).
For our Year 6 parents, please note that we have added a new page to our Primary News. In the absence, of our transition evening, please take a look at the 'Year 6 to 7 Transition' section and find out about life in Secondary School and how we will support your child in their transition.
Finally, over the last fortnight our school campus has had its photos taken for the Yearbook (see below). Next week, it is the turn of the learners. Please view the schedule under 'Upcoming Events' to find the day your child will be involved in the photos. On the day, please ensure your child comes to school in full school uniform (if your child usually has HPE or swimming that day, they should bring their kit with them). Thank you.
Wishing you all a fantastic weekend.
