If you are searching for the new school site on google maps the current address is: 206 Aljunied Rd, Singapore 389827
When we open the school address will become: 1 Aljunied Walk 387293
The timing at our new school are the same as our Ulu Pandan campus. Registration is at 8.25am. The campus is not open until 8am and families are encouraged to arrive at 8.15am onwards. As families are trying out new journeys for the first time, we do undertsand that you may be a little late and we expect traffic on site to be busy the first few days too, therefore class registers will be kept open longer for the first few days. The school day ends at 3.20pm for Years 1 to 6 and 3.15pm for Nursery and Kindergarten.
If you are arriving by car or taxi:
Passengers will alight at The Grand Staircase from cars and taxis. If you would like to accompany young children to their classes you should park on site first and walk to The Grand Staircase. On the first day, we expect car parking to be limited and alternative parking is available at the HDB opposite the school if needed.
If you are arriving by school bus/free shuttle bus:
Passengers will alight at The Grand Staircase from the buses. The exact times of the free shuttle buses from Ulu Pandan are being finalised and you will be able to sign up soon.
If you are arriving by public bus or MRT:
The nearest bus stops are:
The school is within walking distance from Mattar and Aljunied MRT stations.
If you are walking, biking or scooting
You can access the walkway from the front of the school if you are arriving on foot. There will be a clearly indicated place to leave bikes and scooters.
All learners will be met by our staff on the first day of school.
Along the walkway (just before the Learner Services area) you will find ‘greeting stations’ with lots of staff who can assist. All learners will enter the school on this walkway, so it doesn’t matter if you arrive by foot, bus, taxi or MRT. If you are using the canal entrance you will be directed to the walkway.
All children and adults that are on site will be issued with a coloured wrist band at the ‘greeting stations’. This will indicate the year that your child is in and help us to direct you and them to the right place to meet their Year Group.
Once you have dropped them off, we invite you to head to the Eco Café from 8.30am to meet other parents, have a coffee and paint a pebble. We are planning to make a piece of artwork to celebrate our new school out of the pebbles that have been painted by all our 'founding' community: learners, staff and parents.
We will send further details of how the first few days and weeks at our new school will run to all our current and new families in January.
As a part of their Year 6 RISE challenge, you may remember that some of our Year 6 learners asked for your ideas to celebrate our move to our new school. The most popular idea, was to have a whole school lunch to celebrate the rich and diverse community at our new school. They have asked our fantastic NPG for their help in coordinating this event.
We would therefore like to ask for EVERYONE'S help them set it up in a festive and multicultural manner. We are looking for a country representative from all our 52 countries that could help coordinate a stall for their country, by getting in contact with other families from that country.
The lunch will be held on Friday, 31 January at our new school and we would like the different stalls to offer small tastings from their country. We are aware, that some countries are represented by very few families, so some could decide to join forces and you could also just show off some artefacts/information about your country - no food needed - so do not hesitate to come forward.
The learners will share more detailed guidelines later - but PLEASE complete this simple form or get in contact with the NPG Committee (npg@nexus.edu.sg) and provide your name, country/ies you may represent, email and phone number, if you would like to help the children out setting up a wonderful lunch.
Please note that there will be no after-school CCAs next Thursday as school will be ending early. CCAs will resume at the new school on 20 January 2020. A new CCA booklet will be sent out regarding the new locations for all CCAs.
A gentle reminder as well that this week was the last week for Boogie Beats and the Gymnastics Programme. There will be no more sessions for these two activities next week or in the new year.
