From our Head of Primary

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome to our first Primary News of the 2021-22 Academic Year, I hope you are having a great week and that your child has settled well into school life. I have thoroughly enjoyed saying hello to returning learners and welcoming over 110 new primary learners and their families.

In these first 4 weeks we have navigated the first couple of days of off campus learning, celebrated Singapore National Day, hosted our Welcome Evening online, heard from members of our Jewish community as they have prepared for Rosh Hashanah, shared wonderful examples of our learner profile attributes being lived by our learners and celebrated Teachers Day. Thank you for all the time and effort you as parents and caregivers have put into preparing your children for success in the new academic year, and for some a new country. Now more than ever it is important that we invest in building our relationships, close to home and within our community.

There are quite a few important announcements and different sections within this Primary News, please take the time to read them all.

At last week's Welcome Evening I shared a little about my desire to ensure that as a whole community we all have a clear understanding of our Primary Years Programme framework. One of the most powerful elements of the programme at Nexus is the way the curriculum is designed through six transdisciplinary themes. Click on 'Our Central Ideas' to find out more about the theme and central idea your child is currently inquiring into.

May I take a moment to remind our families to label all children's belongings... hats, water bottles, lunch boxes, bags, uniform and HPE/swim kits. With nearly a thousand learners there are lots of children that have the same or similar items and it is easy for them to lose things. If everything is labelled, it makes it much easier for items to be returned to their owners. Please may I also ask families to regularly check at home to see if anything has been taken home in error. If so, please send the items back to school and we will get to return them to the rightful owners.

Shana Tova to our Jewish families for Rosh Hashanah on Monday.

Warm regards,
Ms Fiona
Head of Primary
