Our Primary Learning Conferences will be taking place on Thursday, 3 and Friday, 4 March 2022. School will be CLOSED on Friday, 4 March to allow the Learning Conferences to take place.
Please look out for an email next week inviting you to start booking appointments with your child's teacher.
There will be an online conversation between your child, yourselves and your child’s homeroom teacher. These appointments will be available after school on Thursday, 3 March and over the school day on Friday, 4 March. In addition, there will also be a selection of homeroom activities shared via SeeSaw (available from 8am onwards) for your child to lead you through. Your child will also be able to access activities to showcase their learning in all specialist areas (Music, Visual Arts, HPE, LOTE-French or Chinese and BML).
NAPLAN Assessments
We are starting to gather learner information for families wishing for their child to sit NAPLAN assessments. This is only offered to Australian citizens. If your child has dual citizenship and is not registered with us as Australian - and you would like information on NAPLAN, please contact Michelle Lim at lim.m@nexus.edu.sg.
We enjoy celebrating children's birthdays at school and appreciate how Victus has supported this during Covid - providing a service delivering cupcakes as ordered. You can now bring in individual cakes (either store-bought or from home) which the teacher can distribute to the class. This could be individual cupcakes, for example, but not a cake which needs to be shared. Please liaise with the class teacher if you wish to celebrate birthdays in this way.
Families can still purchase cupcakes from Victus - our in-school catering team. These are made on-site following the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) standards and delivered directly to class. If you would like to consider this option, please contact the Victus team. Their details are on the Parent Zone of our website.
Please may we remind all families that at school learners are expected to wear masks at all times (except when involved in sports or eating/drinking).
We are noticing that a number of learners have masks that do not fit securely. This is particularly true of the reusable masks, where the elastic ear straps or the wire nose bridge become loose over time.
This weekend, please may you check your child's masks fit securely and remind them of the importance of wearing their masks properly at all times.
I never fail to be utterly astonished by the warmth and genuine care in our community. Nexus is an incredible school and I feel privileged when I hear the ideas, tips, strategies and tactics that learners, staff and families share to help each other out.
As we prepare for our upcoming Wellbeing Week (Monday 14th March - Friday 18th March) we would like to capture some of these creative and helpful tips. We would love you to share what has worked for you and your wellbeing here.
We will then share these 'tips from the toilet' on the back of our bathroom stalls across the whole building so that our learners and staff can read them. The deadline is Monday 28th February.
