This year's Book Week was a huge success. Our learners were involved in a variety of fun and engaging activities to celebrate our love of books and reading. Each day the Primary School learners listened carefully and tried to guess the mystery reader, eagerly tried to be caught on camera reading, or used their knowledge of books to guess the set titles and published dates.
Visiting authors Andy Chua and Ee Waun Sim kept our learners engaged with their presentations on using non-ficton to support their writing process of historical and fantasy fiction. Matthew Cooper shared a recorded story for our learners to enjoy during their library sessions. The online book fair allowed our community to purchase great books at a discounted price thanks to the vendor 'Closetful of Books'.
Our celebrations concluded on Friday with our dress up as 'your favourite book character' day. Our learners came dressed to impress with some well thought out and amazing costumes. A big shout out to all our community members for making it such a wonderful event. You can check out more photos on our Facebook page.
Music Concert: Thursday 8th April 2021
Nexus Beats is a non-competitive event and open to all musicians from Year 5 to 13. It also welcomes performers from other performing arts, such as Dancers, MCs, Poets, Rappers, DJs and Magicians, as well as poster designers and a backstage crew.
This year, we hosted 13 bands from Years 5 to 11. This is our biggest event so far. The concert was streamed live in front of an audience of 100 on our Facebook page and has so far been viewed 2.1K times.
Thank you for supporting our first live concert this year. I hope that you enjoyed it: with so much talent on stage tonight I am proud of the learners' achievement. This was a team effort and I would like to thank so many people for making this happen, including our technicians Tee and Zul, the Marketing department, the Senior Leadership team and my wonderful colleagues in the Music department: Clare Lambert, Miss Tash and Mr Chris.
Oh, and not forgetting Dominoes Pizzas of course ;-)
Learners taking part: The Mighty Crazishions: Dharren, Leah, Shiori, Naveen, Blake (Y5), The Wild Ones: Freddie, Jasmine, Mentari, May, Millie (Y6), Josh and Krish (Y6): Stage Management.
