Recently we have launched a new offering as part of our Music Programme: 'Beginner Violin', for our younger learners in Year 2.
Last week, a total of 30 participating learners got to explore playing the violin through fun activities with Ms Jayne (Violin instructor at Nexus). We can't wait to see our young learners joining Primary Orchestra CCA. Here are some photos of our young learners.
We hope to continue the programme next academic year. If your child is moving up to Year 2, please be on the lookout for the signup to the Beginner Violin Programme!
Music Recitals
This term, we will be hosting our final Music Recitals of the year. Learners of any age and musical level are invited to participate to showcase each child's learning and musical journey this year. This term's Music Recitals aim to be a celebration of the hard work and effort that the tutors and learners have put in throughout the year.
Whilst we are still waiting to hear from the CPE if we will be allowed to host these live and invite parents to attend the performance, regardless we will be hosting this event in one format or another. The aim is for the Primary Recitals to take place Tuesday, 4 May and Secondary Recitals Tuesday, 11 May.
If you are having lessons within school please begin discussions with your tutor, expressing your wishes to get involved; if you have lessons outside of school you are also welcome to participate, please email music@nexus.edu.sg to express your interest.
What to do next:
Speak with your teacher
Decide on one song
Begin to practise
Finally be performance ready (A polished and confident performance is required).
ABRSM and Trinity Music Examinations
At Nexus, many of our learners play an instrument and participate in the ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) or the Trinity College Music Exams (Classical or Rock and Pop). These don't just offer a platform to perform or an incentive to practise, they provide structure of learning and enhance instrumental and performance skills. Our learners that follow these examinations end up being those that excel in music and have a life long learning and passion for performance.
I understand many of our learners take these examinations whether they learn an instrument as part of the Nexus Instrumental Programme or privately outside of school, We would like to start sharing successes and welcome learners and parents to email us when results are received so we can share with our wider community. Many learners are still awaiting result, so if you receive them before our next newsletter, please email music@nexus.edu.sg
