Many would assume that in the last few days of a school year the pace would be slowing. However, at Nexus that's never the case!
In the last fortnight, we have enjoyed food, crafts, dance, music and games to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa and in our Sports Assemblies we celebrated the physical achievements on land and in the water of all our learners. Kindergarten learners took a trip down Singapore River, the Nursery learners visited their elderly friends at Orange Valley Nursery Home, Year 6 learners spent time experiencing life in Secondary School and Year 5 explored outer space at the Omni Theatre.
The end of term is also a key time for our learners to take action in support of others who are less fortunate than themselves. Year 3 learners have collected hundreds of shoes for the charity Soles 4 Souls, our Climbathon has raised over $6,500 for Chora Chori, Nepal and learners in Years 4 and 6 shaved their heads to raise awareness for the cancer charity, Hair for Hope and, along with learners and staff across the Secondary School have raised over $16,000.
Finally, yesterday our Year 6 learners led our last Years 3 to 6 assembly of the year. They took opportunity to reflect on their learning journeys over the last year and throughout Primary School. Our Year 6 learners have been excellent leaders of our Primary School, setting an example to their peers on how to live the Nexus RECIPE. We wish them all the very best as they continue their learning journeys in Secondary School.
At this time of year, we always say farewell to some of our Nexus 'family'. To all those learners and parents who are leaving we wish you every success with your new adventures. We also say goodbye to some of our fantastic Primary School teachers who have given so much to build our vibrant Nexus community over the last few years: Mr Bruce (Year 4), Ms Iswari and Ms Jo Cope (Nursery), Ms Georgie (HPE), Ms Crystal (Chinese), Mr Ed (BML). In addition, a number of our wonderful Classroom Assistants are leaving us: Ms Rhea, Ms Valerie, Ms Clara, Ms Samantha and Ms Khalida. Finally, we say farewell to our counsellor, Ms Asha and our Director of Learning Technologies, Mr Lee. A huge thank you to them all for the energy and commitment they have contributed to our learning-focused community and wish them all the very best for the future.
You will no-doubt have seen in the fantastic Nexus Yearbook that has come home with your child. It shows so many wonderful learning opportunities your children have experienced throughout 2018-2019. However, this just scratches the surface of all that your child has engaged in and learnt from this year. All of this is not possible without the hard work of all our staff and the partnership we have with you, the parents.
I wish you and your family a fantastic holiday!

As we come to the end of 2018-2019, we leave you with a few of the latest images from our new school.
The Olympic-sized 50m swimming pool under temporary cover to allow the contractors to make the base water-proof.
This is one of two swimming pools that we will have at our new school.
These are part of our outstanding sports facilities, including two gymnasiums, a fitness suite and HPE classrooms.
As work continues on the exterior, many of the interior spaces are taking shape. Floor and ceiling finishes are nearing completion and bespoke furniture and fittings are being added.
The interior design is fitted for the Science Mega Lab which is more than 50 metres long and has working space for up to 72 learners.
Planting is underway at the undercover play deck. The space will include a traversing wall, play equipment, dance and gymnastic zones and seating areas.
