'Be the Change!'

Year 5 learners have started the year with a focus on Peace and Conflict, through the Transdisciplinary theme of 'Sharing the Planet'. Our learners are inquiring into:

The causes of conflict
Our responsibilities to maintain peace and
Strategies to resolve conflict.

Learners have had the opportunity to find out about significant peacemakers who have contributed greatly to our world. These inspiring people have demonstrated all of the learner profiles, as they chose to commit themselves to making a change for others. Year 5 will share their learning by performing in our 'Be the Change' production.

Performance dates are Wednesday, 11 and Thursday, 12 September. Each of these will be in our auditorium between 8.45-10am.

Please note that the performance is not appropriate for younger children.

Years 3 to 6 Inter-house Cross Country Run - Friday, 13 September

On Friday 13 September, all Year 3 to 6 learners will take part in an Inter-house Cross Country Run at Bedok Reservoir Park. This will be an opportunity for all learners to 'have a go'. The focus of the day will be on participation in a fun and encouraging environment while also identifying those learners that would like to continue Cross Country training.

Please feel free to come along to the park between 10.00 - 11.15am to support your child/ward and join in the house spirit. The learners start/finish line will be close to carpark A (off Bedok Reservoir Rd). Spectators are welcome to attend but it is recommended that you take a taxi or public transport to the event as parking is very limited.

Below are the approximate race start times for each year level. Please note these are only approximate times and due to outdoor conditions we cannot ensure they will be exact. To ensure you see your child participate in the event, please come out for the morning.

10:00 am: Boys Year 3 Race Start
10:10 am: Girls Year 3 Race Start
10:20 am: Boys Year 4 Race Start
10:30 am: Girls Year 4 Race Start
10:40 am: Boys Year 5 Race Start
10:50 am: Girls Year 5 Race Start
11:00 am: Boys Year 6 Race Start
11:10 am: Girls Year 6 Race Start

Please ensure your child/ward brings the following items to school on the day:

Come to school wearing their house t-shirt. Alternatively, a plain t-shirt of the correct colour may be used (your child’s house colour is available on the Parent Portal).
Black/Navy HPE Shorts
Hat and Sun Block
Plenty of additional healthy snacks and a water bottle (please note there will be nowhere at the park to purchase food although learners will be back at school for lunch).
Learners may also choose to show their house spirit by wearing wigs, caps or face paint in their house colour
School uniform to change into when they return back to school is also recommended.

Year 3:

Date: Thursday, 26 and Friday, 27 September

Venue: 'Camp Challenge', Sembawang, Singapore

The Parent Information Meeting has already been held. If you need further information, please contact your child's class teacher.

Year 4:

Date: Wednesday, 27 to Friday, 29 November

Venue: Malacca, Malaysia

Parent Information Meeting: Friday, 25 October at 8.40 am to 9.20am in the Multi-purpose Room on Level 2 (to the left of D2 pod). Year 4 parents and carers are cordially invited to attend this meeting to find out more information about our Year 4 residential trip to Malacca, Malaysia.
