On Tuesday, 2 November, we will be celebrating Deepavali - Festival of Lights, with our Hindu families.
All learners are invited to wear traditional Hindu or Indian dress for the day. Alternatively, children can wear their school uniform.
We call individual subject area documents our 'Scope & Sequence'. Essentially, these are the curriculum documents that articulate the sequence of coverage for any curriculum area - they contain the 'What?' when we think about our learning.
On Tuesday, 2 November (next week), Paul Rimmer, our PYP coordinator will be running an online Parent Workshop to unpick our Scope & Sequence documents, to further support our shared understanding of the PYP framework.
Sign up at the link below if this is an area that interests you and if you wish to learn more about the curriculum that underpins our academic rigour.
Bug Busting Day
Bug Busting Day - Friday, 12 November
Most children and families experience head lice at some point, and we appreciate you letting your homeroom teacher know if you have found any on your child's head.
If we see a child itching or if they report to us that they have an itchy head, we will get the school nurse to check their hair. If live head lice are found, we will ask you to fetch your child to treat the lice.
Please ensure your child is free from head lice before they return.
Thank you.
As part of our mission to support learners to take a productive leadership role in global society, we are encouraging them to care for themselves, others, the world by promoting sustainability. We will be running Green Innovation Week in November and helping learners recognise that environmental stewardship is part of being a global citizen. There will be opportunities for learners to get involved throughout the week and activities to take part in.
We hope learners will take action and think about how our choices have an impact on the local, national and global environment.
If you have a story to share of how sustainability affects your business or how technology is being used to improve sustainability, please let us know. We welcome short videos, links and resources appropriate for younger learners as we work to show them how wide ranging this can be. Please send anything to the attention of Fiona Lewis or directly to lewis.f@nexus.edu.sg.
From trash to fashion!
As part of our Green Innovation Week - Primary learners are invited to use recyclable materials and textile waste to create their own bespoke design hats. Secondary learners will be taking it a step further to create their own bespoke outfit!
The only rule is the hats or outfits must not include anything new.
We look forward to seeing the hats and outfits on Friday, 19 November.
