The NPG NEEDS You:
Without the active and generous participation of our parent volunteers (all parents are automatically members of the NPG), the Nexus family would not be the strong, thriving, and supportive community that it is! Sub-committees have now been established. Please feel free to join in. Contact npg@nexus.edu.sg for information.
UPCOMING: PARENTS NIGHT OUT on Friday, 26 October, approximately 7:30pm:
We are still in the process on confirming a number of details, but we would like all interested parents to “save the date” for the NPG Parents Night Out, a casual affair to enjoy a drink and get to know other parents. Keep an eye on Facebook in the coming week for further details.
Tuesday, 25 September, NPG New to The Red Dot Workshop:
Thank you to all who attended this workshop. Casual discussions ensued for nearly three hours. Thank you Vice President Reinet Doig and Secretary Suzie Bacon who co-presented with myself. We covered every imaginable new to Singapore topic, from emergency numbers, domestic assistance, health care, to cultural norms and inexpensive activities for the little ones. We enjoyed a great turnout of around 25 new parents. One great idea raised from the floor was to organise some walks to get to know Singapore that little bit better. We’ll be looking into this in coming weeks.
NPG Lounge House Rules:
Our NPG Lounge is for parents and guests to enjoy at any time. We encourage respectful use of the Lounge for the enjoyment of all. Please ensure that the lights and aircon are off if you are the last to leave. Please do not leave food out, please wash up after yourselves and have your children do the same for what they use. Students are welcome in the NPG Lounge only when an adult is present - but must be relatively quiet and appropriately behaved. Please note that the NPG Lounge is going to shortly be covered by CCTV.
About the NPG:
One of our School’s unique pillars is what many parents and staff describe as a special community spirit. The NPG serves two purposes within this community - to provide parents with a platform through which to start conversations with, and provide feedback to, the school – to be “a voice of the school community”, and to provide a range of great social, cultural and special-interest events. We welcome all volunteers to join our vibrant and diverse social sub-committees and Welcome Committee, with the main aim of maintaining an inclusive NPG where all ideas are considered valuable.
Warmest wishes,
Simon Hyett
