Physical Health Education
Our focus has been on building confidence and strength as we level up the challenges. For example, fishing along a narrow bridge that gets higher and higher, jumping over the piranha and our poor monkeys had a broken leg so we had to hop on our hands and feet with one leg up in the air!
All these challenges help build confidence in our bodies abilities and shows us that when we practise we can get better, which is lots of fun.
Note: Please ensure your child has a water bottle and appropriate footwear (trainers only - no crocs or sandals are allowed) on PHE days.
Year 2s have continued to progress in their individual challenges and are seeing some great improvements. Year 3s have connected with Chinese fans and the New Zealand Haka. Having the opportunity to create their own movements and words. Year 4s have moved into throw, catch and target challenges, creating their own challenge to build their confidence. Year 5s are developing systems of attack and defense in badminton. Finally, Year 6s are coming towards the end of choreographing their own movement compositions and beginning to edit their videos using camera angle and audience reaction knowledge gained from their UOI.
Note: Please ensure your child has a water bottle and appropriate footwear (trainers only - no crocs or sandals are allowed) on PHE days.
Years 1-3
In Swimming, the advanced group has been working on their breaststroke leg action and coordination. They also practised the foundations of competitive diving. Furthermore, their stamina was improved through increased swimming distance. Games were used to increase their motivation. The intermediate group worked on basic streamlining drills and breaststroke arms with breathing action. The aim was to get them independent and confident enough to join the advanced group.
Years 4-6
In Swimming, learners have been working on the breaststroke pull-out technique. Learners were encouraged to apply the technique after each turn from the wall. They have also learned to execute the pull out technique after each dive from the start block. They further develop their breaststroke technique and coordination skills by working on the timing of the stroke and body posture during the glide phase progressively.
