Dear Parents and Caregivers
Never have groups of 5 been so exciting for us here at Nexus! We were delighted to hear the news our learners could work together in larger groups. We've also been able to restart Nursery and Kindergarten swimming. However, with or without restrictions, the learning never stops. I've had the opportunity to spend a little time in some of the learning spaces this week. Year 3s were sharing what a great Unit of Inquiry they have just completed by presenting their chosen culture. I learnt a lot about the Maldives, South African, Korean and New Zealand cultures (to name a few), in a very short space of time. One connection we made was about the important role food plays in many, many celebrations across many different cultures. This also made a good link to our assembly this week on Thanksgiving and being thankful.
One area of the curriculum we get asked lots of questions about is our Language Arts programme. This week in our 'News from the Year Groups', we are focusing on what's happening in Language Arts and the transdisciplinary links that are made. Please take a look - being aware of the cross-curriculum links that are made during each Unit of Inquiry is key to understanding our PYP framework and how your child is building their knowledge and understanding.
Finally, as the end of the semester approaches, we will be saying farewell to a few of our families as they relocate or return to their home countries. If your family is leaving us, please may I ask that you complete a Withdrawal Form at your earliest convenience. The Withdrawal Form can be found on the Parent Portal or by clicking here.
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating this week, I hope you have a lot to give thanks for.
Have a lovely weekend.
Warm regards
Fiona Lewis

Thanksgiving Assembly
As I mentioned, we talked about American Thanksgiving today in assembly. I asked the learners to share the things they felt thankful for or were glad they had, we used a Jamboard to collaborate and capture the ideas in real time - here are their responses.
What are we thankful for? Nursery to Y2
What are we thankful for? Year 3 - Year 6
NEXMAS Sing-A-Long!
This is just a tiny sneak peek of what's been going on in the auditorium this week. A big thank you to our Music team for making it all possible. Take a look at the 'Upcoming Events' page located at the top of the newsletter for more information on our NEXMAS Sing-A-Long!
