Year 3 Mini Exhibition

We cordially invite our Year 3 Parents and Guardian to our Unit of Inquiry Mini-Exhibition on Thursday, 29 November at 8.40am to 10.15am. The exhibition will focus on our Central Idea, ‘Cultures are expressed creatively.’ It will begin in the MPR (Multi-purpose Room) on Level 2 with the learners sharing their cultural dances and songs learnt in their specialist classes. Parents will then move to the homeroom areas and children will share their understanding of the Central Idea through their chosen cultural item.

Crazy Hair Day

On Friday, 30 November all primary learners are asked to wear their hair in the craziest possible style for Crazy Hair Day. If parents are short on time, there will be Year 6 hair stylists in the cafeteria before school and at snack and lunch that are able to temporarily colour or braid hair into crazy hairstyles for a small fee!

Learners participating are asked to bring in $2 to donate to Chora Chori, a charity that cares for children in Nepal. There will be a prize for the craziest hair in each year group. Crazy Hair Day is learner-led action that was started by a Year 2 learner in 2015 and is now in its third year being supported by a group of Year 6 learners. We can't wait to see your crazy hairstyles!

Movember 2018 Raising money for men’s health issues. http://moteam.co/nissmo

Have you spotted any new facial hair around school?

Some familiar faces are taking part in the annual Movember challenge, growing a moustache or embarking on a new fitness drive to raise awareness for men’s health.

We are now at the half way mark and this quite worrying photo shows our progress so far!

Over the last two years we have raised over $6,000. Can you help us beat this target whilst supporting a good cause?

A link to our fund raising page as well as more photos can be found here.

Year 1 Trip to the Science Centre

Year 1 learners visited the Science Centre on Thursday where they explored the concept of forces. They participated in a 'My Simple Machines' tour where they investigated pulleys, inclined planes and wedges in the Kinetic Garden. They also participated in tours around the exhibitions. A favourite was the Earthquake Simulator. It was lovely to see the learners apply their knowledge of forces to other experiences as they moved around the exhibits.
