Artist in Residence Drummer Andy Gleadhill

I would like to thank all learners who participated in the Percussion and Drumming Workshops last week. It was our pleasure to host Artist in Residence Andy Gleadhill over 2 days. The workshops he held in the Primary school for years 3, 4, and 6 were filled with energy and inspired our learners through African and Latin American Drumming styles. The concepts linked with the current UOI’s and learners were left excited and upbeat about music making. The year 8’s consolidated last terms learning with a Samba workshop and the IGCSE and IB worked on a range of creating activities using a range of instrumentation.

Aureus Music Recital - Primary

Yesterday the Primary Aureus Recital took place in the MPR. The audience was presented with an eclectic mix of song from Classical to Rock style, by learners from Year 1 through to Year 6. The learners displayed many of the PYP attitudes to learning such as confidence, independence, risk taking, enthusiasm and creativity. Congratulations to all the Nexus musicians for putting together a splendid morning of music. We look forward to next week’s Secondary Recital.
