Our Deepavali celebrations were louder, brighter, tastier and more active than ever! The learners were treated to Dhol performances, traditional storytelling as well as dance performances from our very own learners. Enjoy the wonderful photos below.
An amazing evening finished off the Nexus 6 Film Festival. Everyone was dressed in their finest as they graced the red carpet. 66 films were presented to the audience, showcasing music videos, documentaries, horror, drama and comedy films. A huge thank you goes out to all who helped make the Nexus 6 Festival a huge success.
Below is a link to many of the films you may not have had a chance to see yet.
In Year 5 learners have focused on the Central Idea of how ‘Systems influence the lives of People’. This week we visited the Singapore Parliament Building. A guided tour provided learners with an understanding of the history of the government system and what happens when members of parliament meet for a sitting.
Over the last few weeks Year 5 learners have worked in political party groups to create a campaign that will lead to change within our Nexus community. The elections and voting took place this week, as Year 4 and 6 learners registered and cast their votes. Visiting learners were able to make connections to goals and actions that were important to them. Let’s see what actions the winning party will take forward!
Following on from the success of the Nexus 6 Film Festival, a group of students organised a Terrific Thursday Theatre event as a part of their R.I.S.E. Challenge. Popcorn and cookies were the meal of choice with the learners raising $200. This money will be used to fund other projects which will then be combined with the proceeds from other projects throughout the year to go to a learner-chosen charity.
A wonderful effort and a great way to continue the fun of the Film Festival from the night before.
Our wonderful team of library staff and parent volunteers helped us to celebrate Halloween through arts and craft activities taking place in a spooktacularly decorated library! Thank you to everyone involved - particularly the learners who set up and ran the lunchtime activities.
