Year 2 recently hosted their 'How we express ourselves' Mini-Exhibition, showcasing their exploration of storytelling through the lines of inquiry:
Stories are told in different ways (Form),
The purpose of stories (Function), and
Stories are interpreted in different ways (Perspective).
Learners shared their creative projects, celebrating diverse storytelling traditions and perspectives, and highlighting the purpose and impact of stories across cultures. It was an inspiring display of curiosity, creativity, and connection!
We had an explosion of Maths activities in the Primary School on Friday, 17 Jan. Thank you so much to all the parents, grandparents and other caregivers that came to join us.
It was a glorious afternoon of learning chaos with children authentically sharing their learning with the important adults in their life.
Last Thursday and Friday, we celebrated the Lunar New Year with engaging activities, including traditional Chinese calligraphy, paper cutting, and shuttlecock kicking. Learners and staff dressed in traditional clothing or in gold and red, symbolizing the festive spirit, and the whole school community came together to enjoy vibrant lion and dragon dance performances.
In primary assemblies, students enjoyed storytelling sessions about Lunar New Year traditions and a captivating Chinese Yo-Yo performance. In secondary, we experienced wushu, pipa, traditional dances, and songs, while also learning how the Lunar New Year is celebrated in Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean communities.
These activities offered our learners a meaningful opportunity to deepen their understanding of this important cultural celebration. The blend of diversity and shared traditions fostered greater connection and brought our community closer together.

Year 12 IB Artists gained invaluable experience learning from professionals at STPI Gallery in an enriching workshop series in the prelude to Singapore Art Week. The hands-on sessions with expert printmakers equipped students with sophisticated techniques that will enhance their portfolios and upcoming IB Diploma exhibitions.
During two intensive 3-hour workshops, students explored Etching and Aquatint processes, transforming their preparatory drawings through masterful line work and tonal variations. Their thoughtful questions and creative approaches demonstrated deep engagement with the medium, marking significant progress in their artistic development.
The students represented Nexus with pride and enthusiasm, making the most of this opportunity to learn in a prestigious gallery environment. Their dedication to craftsmanship and willingness to experiment with new techniques exemplified the qualities we value in our learners.
On Friday, 17th January, the Year 12 and Year 13 IB Art learners visited two of the most talked-about exhibitions during Singapore Art Week: the Banksy exhibition and the Art SG Exhibition. The trip provided an invaluable opportunity for students to engage with a diverse range of artworks and to draw inspiration for their own creative practices.
The students were captivated by the range of styles, mediums, and concepts on show, particularly by the thought-provoking pieces in the Banksy exhibition, where social commentary and street art collided in bold and innovative ways. Meanwhile, the Art SG Exhibition offered a broader array of contemporary art, from traditional to experimental forms, all of which left the learners reflecting on the dynamic and ever-evolving world of art.
For the Year 13 learners, this experience was especially relevant as they prepare for their final exhibition on 10th March, which marks the culmination of their IB journey. Observing the curation of these exhibitions provided critical insights into how artworks are displayed, interpreted, and experienced, giving them a deeper understanding of the exhibition process - an essential aspect of their own upcoming showcase.
The trip sparked new ideas, fostered thoughtful discussions, and left the learners with a sense of motivation for their own projects. With under two months to go until their final exhibition, the visit has undoubtedly contributed to their growth as both artists and curators.
We look forward to seeing how these experiences translate into the final artworks, which are sure to reflect the creativity, insight, and critical thinking that these learners have developed throughout their IB Art journey.
