As we conclude from a week of animal-assisted therapy, pool laps, meditation, fruit cups and so many more wellness activities, we hope that the Nexus community feels refreshed and rejuvenated. We also hope that everyone has learnt good skills surrounding self-care, to ensure that well-being is always a key focus in our lives. After all, we need to be well to reach our fullest potentials.
There has been lots of music performances recently from our music ensembles across the school. This is a great way to share our learning, motive the musicians and inspire our community.
Last Friday the Primary Orchestra performed. This was their first public performance for many of the young musicians and they were bursting with excitement, nerves and pride. Well done to them for an outstanding performance and we look forward to hearing them again at the Christmas Fair on the 8th December.
The Secondary learners were also entertained in assembly recently. The Jazz/Pop Group with singer Nazneen (Y12) performed to 'Feelin' Good' to launch 'Care for Self Week' and the Jazz/Pop and Secondary Choir got us taping our toes and singing along to the Rocky hit 'Eye of the Tiger.
What a show our Primary learner's put on! There was good laughter and sandy silliness in our Primary Production, Ali Baba and the Bongo Bandits. We are so proud of the learners and what they have accomplished in the show. We also hope that you enjoyed it thoroughly as well!
This term in Nursery we have been delighted to welcome ‘Mystery Guests’ to share a story, song and/or skill. The children eagerly anticipate each Mystery Guest’s arrival, guessing who’s family might arrive. These visits allow the children to create connections their learning and understanding of how collaboration helps to build and support a community. Sincere thanks to all of the families who have taken the time to join us and share, we look forward to finding out who will come next!
The Year 12 IB Artists enjoyed learning from the professionals at STPI Gallery this week. Learning new printing techniques in a gallery environment will allow the learners to further develop their own ideas and skills working towards curating their exhibitions at the end of the IB Diploma course.
Over the course of two 3 hour sessions, the Etching and Aquatint workshop explored line and tones in their own preplanned drawings. It was great to see the creative ideas and thoughtful questions which were asked, all supporting the learners to move forward in their creative journey.
Congratulations to all those involved who were an exemplary representation of Nexus learners.
