Year 10 Global Perspectives deadline

Before their trip to Bali, Year 10 learners were busy completing their Individual Report for Global Perspectives. This is a research report on a global issue of their choice and contributes to 30% of their overall IGCSE Global Perspectives grade.

Teachers are currently reviewing the submitted reports and will be providing written feedback by 31st May. Learners are expected to carefully review their feedback and make the necessary revisions.

The final deadline for submission is 7th June.

Next week in class, we will be focusing on some exercises designed to help learners reflect on their work and enhance it further.

We appreciate your support in encouraging learners to meet these important deadlines and expectations. Please check in with them to discuss their progress. It they, or you, have any concerns, please just get in touch.

Key dates:

- Feedback received: 31st May

- Final deadline: 7th June

Year 8 Visual Art - Totem Poles

Within Year 8 Visual Art during the Creativity Clash unit, learners created individual ceramic totem poles. The unit is centered around how ideas can be expressed creatively and how learners can explore ceramic hand-building techniques to creatively use them in their artworks. Each totem pole is an abstract representation of aspects of the individual learner with inspiration for every section telling the story of themself by incorporating unique ideas generated from personal interests, culture and meaningful life experiences.

The totem poles are displayed in the Nexus community garden located on the 5th floor.

Well done to all our Year 8 Visual Artists!

Important changes to uniform hoodies next year

If any learner feels cold in school, they are welcome to wear a school hoodie. They could be purchased from the school uniform shop. We are looking to add one without a zip next year with our new provider.

Learners may organise and wear hoodies that represent their commitment to activities and events such as swimming, the ski trip, the London arts trip, volleyball and other activities. These hoodies should be worn during the activity. For example on the plane or bus to and from events, during training (before or after school) or at weekends.

Essentially, the only hoodie that should be seen during the school day is the Nexus black hoodie. The only exception to this is the Year 13 Graduation hoodie.
