Greetings Parents & Guardians of learners in Year 9-11,
Introducing Unifrog! In keeping with our commitment to provide our learners with outstanding careers guidance and tailored support when choosing their next step after school, we will now be using Unifrog; an award-winning, online careers platform. Last week, our learners in Years 9 - 11 will have received an email from the platform. We encourage them to open it up and create an account to begin their journey…!
What is Unifrog?
Unifrog is a platform designed to help our learners explore their post-secondary education and career options. It provides tools and resources to assist them in making informed decisions about their NEXt steps. The platform offers features such as career assessments, college and university information, and guidance on the application process.
Unifrog brings into one place thousands of undergraduate university courses, apprenticeships, and college courses in the UK, the US and around the world. This makes it easy for learners to compare and choose the best university courses, apprenticeships or further education courses for them. Additionally, the platform helps learners successfully apply for these opportunities by supporting the writing of personal statements, application forms and CVs, allowing counsellors to give live feedback throughout the process.
We use it more extensively as a school when our learners reach Year 12 and 13 and any applications to US universities are conducted through Unifrog. It is a user-friendly, easy-to-navigate platform that allows for the enormity of making career-focused decisions more manageable and clear.
So why Year 9 - 11?
As of this academic year, we actually already use Unifrog in our PSHE programmes across the secondary school. To make these programmes more transparent, providing the learners with Unifrog accounts will enable them to make more informed decisions about their future paths as they progress up the school. As both Year 9 and Year 11 are year groups that make decisions impacting their later studies, having access to all the tools of Unifrog will enable them to map out any desired career goals and explore the different ways of reaching them.
Can parents & guardians access these accounts?
We are currently exploring the most effective way parents and guardians can best support the learners with this platform. Any update will be communicated via this Newsletter so watch this space!
What can I do now?
We encourage our learners to set up an account and start exploring! Parents and guardians can help facilitate this as we want our learners to begin researching different career options, destinations or institutions to give them a better idea on their NEXt steps. If you have a firm idea on what it is you want to do when you leave school, great! If you are undecided then that is also fine. Kickstart the search for your future now and give yourself the best chance to achieve it.
