Dear Primary Families
Welcome back and Welcome to Nexus for our new families. I hope you're all feeling refreshed and ready for the final term of the year. It's hard to believe we've reached this point, but we're excited to embark on this last leg of our academic year together.
This term promises to be a busy and rewarding one with lots going on - as always. Please take a look at our News from the Year Groups below to learn a little bit about your child's current or new UOI.
A big thank you to the families that joined us in the rain for our Nexus at the Botanical Gardens celebration. The fantastic sense of community was surpassed only by our Nexus learners' performances.
As we start this new term I’d like to take the opportunity to share some reminders. We understand that technology plays a big role in our lives, and smartwatches can offer convenience and safety features. However, please remember that we ask phones and smartwatches to be handed in to your child’s homeroom teacher during the school day. Phones or smartwatches can be collected at the end of the day so your child will have them, should you need to contact them.
Linked to this - we continue to see concerns and issues coming from social media and messaging apps or services. We don't recommend that primary learners have access to any social media or unmoderated messaging apps. It is very easy for conversations online to filter back into school and have a significant impact on the learners involved. If you want to start a conversation about the use of social media with your child we've found this site The Smart Talk to be a useful resource.
For our new families, I would like to outline the key ways we communicate. Please make sure that you connect with these various channels so that you can best support your child in their learning journey:
Facebook Page (click here) - a space where we celebrate all that is happening in the Nexus community.
Parent Zone (click here) - a one-stop source to find all the key information you need about life at Nexus. For example, you can view the school calendar and find out more about our CCA, Music and Sport programmes.
SeeSaw App - we offer a ‘window into the classroom’ via the SeeSaw App. This is the regular ongoing communication method we will use to share news and home learning from your child's class. If you need some help to set up the app, please email our IT team.
Every class in our Primary School has a WhatsApp Group. These groups will allow you to build friendships between families in each class. For further information on the WhatsApp Groups, please contact Learner Services.
We also have our fortnightly Newsletters. They are a crucial part of our communication with our whole community. It is where we include information about any upcoming events, our recent happenings and also, post important notices. The different sections can be accessed from the menu across the top of the screen (on large screens such as laptops and iPads) or the 'triple bar' icon on the top left (on small screens, e.g. phones).
If you have any concerns about your child, please don't hesitate to reach out to their Homeroom Teacher, they are always your first point of contact and will be able to assist you if further support is required. All teacher’s email addresses can be found on this page as you scroll down.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. If you are celebrating Easter, I hope it brings happiness and peace to your home.
Have a lovely long weekend.

Welcome back to a new and exciting term in Nursery. We hope you all had a relaxing holiday and enjoyed some special moments with your families. The children have returned full of energy and enthusiasm, and it has been wonderful to see their smiling faces back in the classroom.
A warm and heartfelt welcome to the new families joining our growing Nursery community. Building strong connections between home and school is an essential part of what we do, and we look forward to getting to know you better as the term unfolds.
We have a term full of fun, exploration, and discovery as we begin our final Unit of Inquiry, Sharing the Planet. We will focus on the natural world around us, discovering the plants and minibeasts living in our outdoor learning environment. The children will explore how living things have shared needs, such as water, food, and space to grow and stay healthy. Through hands-on experiences, observations, and playful investigations, we aim to nurture curiosity, responsibility and respect for all living things.
We are also excited to continue our popular Monday Mystery Guests! These special visits have brought so much joy to the children, and we can’t wait to see who will surprise us next. Thank you for your ongoing support and for being such a valued part of our Nursery journey. We are looking forward to a fantastic term ahead.

What an energetic start to our final term! The children have returned from the break refreshed, recharged, and ready to learn. It has been wonderful to see how smoothly they’ve transitioned back into the classroom, such a clear sign of the growth and maturity they have developed over the year.
This term, we are embarking on a new learning journey, literally! Our central idea is Journeys help us to explore, and already, many learners have enthusiastically shared stories of their travels through photos, videos, and even travel tickets from around the world.
Adding to the excitement, each class received a special delivery on Monday, a mystery parcel containing a Nexus Travel Bear! The children were thrilled to meet their new cuddly friend. This weekend, the bears will be travelling home with class teachers, but they are eager to visit your homes too! Keep an eye out for the sign-up sheet so you can book a date to host the class bear. As part of our global exploration, we have also invited families and friends from around the world to send us postcards. We can not wait to see where they come from!
It is shaping up to be a jam-packed term, full of special events and celebrations. Alongside the upcoming public holidays, we are looking forward to welcoming you to our final Stay and Play session, as well as celebrating learners’ learning during our end-of-term assemblies.

A warm welcome to Term 4 and an extended welcome to the new families joining our Nexus community. It’s been a wonderful start to the term as learners reconnect with friends and settle back into school life with energy and enthusiasm.
We’re excited to begin our final Unit of Inquiry, focusing on the idea that 'celebrations are a form of expression'. Learners will explore the meaning behind different celebrations, why people celebrate, and the values and traditions that shape them. To kick things off, they took part in class rotations as provocations into the unit, diving into celebrations such as birthdays, Halloween, Christmas, Deepavali, and Chinese New Year. These hands-on experiences have sparked curiosity and thoughtful discussions, setting the stage for rich inquiry and reflection.
As we move through the term, we’ll also begin preparing for the transition to Year 2. Learners will have opportunities to share their wonderings, discuss friendships, and participate in transition activities to help them feel confident and comfortable with the changes ahead.
We look forward to a joyful, meaningful, and celebratory final term together, filled with learning, reflection, and community connections!

Welcome back to school for the final term of the academic year! Year 2 learners have jumped straight into Term 4 with enthusiasm. We introduced the How the world works unit of Inquiry with a visit to the Secondary Science Mega Lab. Dr Fabio and Dr Garry led the learners through an engaging and hands-on introductory session to light. We also went to the auditorium as part of the provocation and watched an inspiring light video showcasing the LightBalance dancers to demonstrate how “Exploring light helps us experience our world.”
While we were in the auditorium, Mr Sean gave instructions to the teachers to complete tasks. However, some of the instructions were incomplete or did not make sense! This was very entertaining for the Year 2 learners and was a fun way to introduce procedural writing and the importance of clear sequential steps.
Soon, Year 2 will start the transition process to Year 3. We will be visiting the Year 3 hub on Level 7 to become accustomed to the space and the movement. As the term progresses, we will also visit the Level 5 cafeteria and Level 6 playdeck. The transition to Year 3 is a significant one, and it is natural for learners to experience a combination of excitement and nervousness. We are aiming to ease these nerves by visiting the Year 3 hub regularly this term. The learners will not meet the Year 3 teachers at this time, as they have their own schedules to follow. The purpose of the visits is for the learners to familiarise themselves with the learning space. The Year 2 teachers will continue with the planned curriculum, just on Level 7 rather than Level 1.

It has been wonderful to welcome back our Year 4 learners for the final term of the academic year! A special welcome to our new families that have joined as well. We have jumped right back into our new Unit of Inquiry: “People use simple machines to assist in everyday life.” This week, learners have been introduced to the seven types of simple machines—pulleys, screws, levers, inclined planes, gears, wheels and axles, and wedges. To deepen their understanding, learners will experience a series of hands-on workshops that allow them to experiment with each type of machine in an engaging and practical way. To further consolidate their learning, we're excited about our upcoming visits to the Science Centre next week, where students will explore these concepts through real-world applications and interactive exhibits.
In Art, learning is connected to indigo dying and expressing their creativity. Each learner will have the opportunity to dye their own fabric and design their creation. They will learn about the traditional process of colouring textiles with a natural dye derived from the leaves of indigo plants, resulting in a distinctive blue or purple colour.
Soon Year 4 will begin the process of thinking about their transition to Year 5. There are a variety of experiences planned for our learners. Next week, some Year 5 learners will visit and share how they have used an iPad to support their learning. This will be led by Ms Stephanie. Each Year 4 homeroom will also enjoy one of their lessons in the Year 5 space on level 8. Towards the end of the term we will have a primary transition morning, where all classes will visit their 2025/26 spaces as a year group.
It's shaping up to be an exciting and discovery-filled start to the term already.

Welcome back to school for the final term of Year Five! It’s been great to see the learners return with focus and enthusiasm, ready to make the most of their final term in the Primary School.
This week we started our new Unit of Inquiry, How We Express Ourselves, by tuning in to a range of creative works and media that raise awareness about global issues. The central idea—People can promote awareness through creative actions—has already sparked interesting discussions, particularly around the UN Global Goals. On Tuesday, learners took part in creative rotations where they experienced a variety of art forms, from collage and photography to music, drama, and even using Minecraft as a tool for creative expression and for advocacy. These experiences are helping learners consider how different forms of creativity can be used to share a message and make an impact.
In Maths and Language Arts, we’ve also begun our new units. In Maths, we’ll be building financial literacy through a practical budgeting challenge, and in Language Arts, we’re starting to explore the features of persuasive writing and media. These learning areas will tie into our central idea as learners prepare to create their own persuasive products.
A huge well done to all those who took part in the Nexus at the Gardens performance at the Singapore Botanic Gardens over the weekend. It was a lovely celebration of music and community, and we were proud to see so many Year 5 learners involved.
We’re looking forward to an engaging and purposeful term ahead, full of opportunities for creativity, connection, and action.

The PYP Exhibition, a cornerstone of the Primary Years Programme, represents a culminating, collaborative inquiry for students in their final year. This significant experience empowers learners to delve into a real-world issue, document their evolving understanding, and confidently share their acquired knowledge with the wider community. Throughout this process, students actively demonstrate their embodiment of the IB Learner Profile attributes and are encouraged to take meaningful action, striving to make a tangible difference in relation to their chosen issue.
This week marked the exciting launch of the PYP Exhibition with an inspiring kick-off assembly. During this event, both Year 6 learners and their parents had the valuable opportunity to hear firsthand accounts of the exhibition journey from enthusiastic Year 7 students who have recently completed the process. Following these insightful presentations, the Year 6 learners embarked on an initial exploration of significant global and local issues. This crucial stage involved unpacking their initial thoughts and collaboratively identifying areas that sparked their curiosity and ignited their passion for deeper inquiry. This foundational work sets the stage for their in-depth investigations and collaborative action within the PYP Exhibition framework.
