Dear Primary Families,
Term 3 is traditionally one of the busiest of the year, and this term has been no exception. Our primary learners have been actively involved in a variety of events and activities, including residential trips, our art exhibition, Lunar New Year celebrations, learner-led assemblies, CCAs, ACSIS sports, field trips, Learning Conferences, cross-school collaborations, Book Week, the Pirates of the Curry Bean production, and, most recently, Sports Week. Even next week, we’ll see more learners heading out on field trips and other schools visiting us to observe our classroom practices. All of this is in addition to the day-to-day learning we prioritise.
I want to take a moment to express my gratitude. Thank you to our learners for their energy and enthusiasm in engaging with all these experiences. Thank you to our teaching teams for their ongoing reflection and commitment to achieving the best possible learning outcomes for every child. And, of course, thank you to you, our families. We know how crucial your support is - the picture isn’t complete without your continued involvement, and we really appreciate it.
As we approach the upcoming break, I encourage you to take some time to talk with your child about school. It’s okay if they don’t want to focus on their academic progress — they might want to share stories about their friends or recount something funny that happened. All of this is valuable, as it strengthens your connection and shows your child that you’re interested in their school life.
I hope you all have a restful break and enjoy some downtime, recharging for what promises to be an exciting and fun final term of the year!
Warm regards,
Ms Fiona
Head of Primary School
Wow! What a fantastic term it has been in Nursery. The children have embraced every adventure with enthusiasm, curiosity, and creativity. Through play-based learning, they have grown in confidence, independence, and their ability to express ideas and emotions.
This term, our Unit of Inquiry focused on the power of play as a tool for learning and expression. We have seen the children take on the roles of inquirers, communicators, and imaginative thinkers, whether performing in the puppet theatre, bringing their artistic ideas to life, or exploring new ways to create and share. In Mathematics, the children have shown a keen interest in 2D shapes, eagerly exploring the properties of shapes through play. They have also been building their knowledge of numbers and growing more confident using the Numicon resource.
Beyond the classroom, it has been a term full of exciting experiences. The children have embraced every opportunity to learn and explore, from the high-energy fun of Energy Explosion to the magic of Book Week, a memorable theatre trip, and our colourful Lunar New Year celebrations.
As our Nursery community grows, we look forward to welcoming new learners and families in Term 4. Wishing you all a fantastic holiday!
This term has been a truly exciting and rewarding journey in Kindergarten! We have had the pleasure of welcoming new learners into our classroom community, which has allowed us to build new friendships and create wonderful memories. Our learners have embraced every opportunity to express themselves through our current UOI, whether by exploring fairy tales or enjoying the excitement of Book Week, where stories came to life and sparked their imaginations. We even had a special visit from Goldilocks and the Giant from Jack and the Beanstalk! It has been heartwarming to watch each learner’s confidence grow this term, especially during the Learner-Led Conferences, where they proudly shared their learning journey with their families.
Our term has also been filled with enriching experiences that offered meaningful opportunities for our learners to appreciate global traditions and celebrate diversity. We immersed ourselves in the traditions of the Lunar New Year and were thrilled to see so many families join in on the festivities and community events, including Family Math Day, mystery guests, and gardening. The excitement didn’t stop there – our excursion to the theatre to see The Way Back Home was a true highlight, with our learners captivated by the performance. What a term it has been! We’re excited to see what Term 4 has in store for us.
What an incredible Term 3 we have had! Our Unit of Inquiry, 'How people can apply their understanding of forces to invent and create', has been an exciting journey from start to finish. Learners engaged in hands-on research and inquiry, from mini exploratoriums and playground force investigations to art meeting science with friction experiments. The culmination of this learning was our trip to the Science Centre, where learners explored simple machines in action, bringing their understanding to life.
Beyond our UOI, our learners have continued to shine in many ways. Their confidence and communication skills were on full display during class assemblies, where they shared their learning with enthusiasm. Family Maths Day and Learner-Led Conferences were standout moments, with our learners taking on the role of 'little teachers', guiding families through interactive learning hubs and immersing them in their discoveries.
These are just a glimpse of the many wonderful experiences that have shaped this term. However, it’s the daily energy, curiosity, and excitement in our learning spaces that truly define the magic of Year 1. As we head into our final term, we look forward to witnessing even more growth, development, and achievement.
Wishing all our families a restful term break, and we can’t wait for the adventures of Term 4!
The past few weeks have had Year 2 think about how connected we all are as well as celebrating our accomplishments, from big to small! We started the term celebrating the whole school’s Lunar New Year activities and are now about to end the term by celebrating the differences we made through various milestones!
To begin with, the Year 2 cohort did an amazing job with their Year 2 Mini-Exhibition which showcased their Mathematical rigour and artistic endeavours through a myriad of games, Boomerang stories and Alebrijes (Mexican Animal Art)! The event was so lively that some say some things will make a return appearance in a new form!
Our partaking of different cultures and traditions from the New Year celebrations kept on going through events like Home Language Day and Book Week, where learners shared and enjoyed each other's families' heritage and customs through stories.
At the same time, the learners were hard at work as we slowly arrived at the end of our “Sharing the planet” unit of inquiry; we are extremely proud of their journey to a stage where they realise their actions have an impact on the world around them. From countless hours of research to real-world experiences in school, at home and our field trip to Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, we have deepened our knowledge and relationship with the community we share with every discovery made.
Growing at our own speeds in our writing of information texts, expanding our repertoire of logical tools to solve problems in Mathematics and honing our management of well-being through the zones of regulation and mindful breathing routines, Term 3 has captured the importance of building a safe and enjoyable learning-focused environment. The Learner Conferences showcased best what the learners had learnt in these areas!
All this growth and cheer would not have been possible without the support provided for the learners – we would like to give a big shout-out to all parents. You have made sacrifices in your own ways, be it by taking time off your busy schedule to be part of an activity at school, guiding your child at home or outside school.
To quote Lois Lowry, author of ‘The Giver’ – “Kids deserve the right to think that they can change the world.” We hope these words resonate with all of us as our little agents of change take a well-deserved rest over the holidays.
Look forward to more after the break!

This term has been filled with exciting experiences, achievements, and memorable moments for our Year 4 students. One of the biggest highlights was the much-anticipated residential camp to Desaru, Malaysia. Learners embraced new challenges, built friendships, and developed independence while engaging in outdoor adventures. It was wonderful to see everyone step out of their comfort zones, learn collaboratively, and build resilience in a fun and supportive environment.
Book Week was another standout event, inspiring a love for reading and storytelling across the school. We were delighted to welcome author Neil Humphreys, who captivated learners with his engaging writer's workshop, humour, and passion for literature. His visit encouraged our young readers and writers to think creatively and explore the joy of storytelling.
Our Year 4 Track and Field Sports Day was a fantastic display of determination, teamwork, and house spirit. Learners gave their best effort, pushing themselves to achieve their personal best while cheering on their peers with enthusiasm. The energy and encouragement from families was amazing too.
Another key moment of the term was our Learner-Led Conferences, where learners proudly shared their learning journeys with parents and teachers. They reflected on their progress, discussed personal goals, and showcased their hard work with confidence. It was wonderful to see them take ownership of their learning and celebrate their achievements.
Throughout the term, every learner has shown growth, resilience, and enthusiasm in all aspects of school life. Every successes, no matter how big or small is a reason for great celebration. Well done to every learner, and we look forward to even more exciting opportunities next term!

Sports Day was a fantastic event, with learners giving their best effort across a range of activities. The level of teamwork and support for each other was great to see, and the energy from both learners and supporters made for an enjoyable day.
Book Week was another memorable part of the term. Learners took part in creative reading activities, met author and illustrator Trevor Lai, and worked on their own storytelling ideas. Dressing up as favourite book characters and sharing stories with their secondary school buddies added to the excitement.
Learner-Led Conferences were an opportunity for learners to reflect on their progress and share their goals with their families. They spoke confidently about their learning and next steps, demonstrating the independence and responsibility they have developed this year.
It has been a busy and productive term, and we are proud of the effort and enthusiasm learners have shown in all areas of school life. We look forward to more learning opportunities next term.
This week has been a whirlwind of learning and excitement! We launched our new unit, "Where we are in place and time," diving into the fascinating world of technological innovation and its impact across history and into the future. The PYP Exhibition journey also officially began, with visits to the German European School's PYP Exhibition and Nexus' Year 9 Community Project Exhibition. These experiences sparked rich discussions on what makes an exhibition impactful, and students are already brimming with ideas for their own inquiries and presentations. We're eagerly anticipating our theatre field trip next week, where we'll explore performance as a powerful exhibition tool.
Adding to the week's vibrancy, our spirited Sports Day was a resounding success, providing a fantastic platform for learners to demonstrate their athletic prowess and teamwork. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to showcase their skills in a diverse range of activities, fostering a sense of camaraderie and healthy competition. The combination of academic exploration and physical activity made for a truly enriching and memorable week.
