They don't know what to talk to you about because they don't actually know know why they feel the way they do.
They may perceive pressure from you when you encourage them to talk, and the flight response kicks in.
And, sometimes, we inadvertently are the cause of stressors by asking too many questions and talking over them when trying to help.
Allow your child to open up at their own pace. In the meantime, engage in calming activities together, like drawing, watching a show, or snacking, to help soothe their nervous system until they feel ready.
